Vaniville Town (Japanese: アサメタウン Asame Town) is a small town located in the southeastern portion of the Kalos region. Like Pallet Town, New Bark Town, Littleroot Town, Twinleaf Town, Nuvema Town, and Aspertia City, Vaniville Town is the starting location for the player. It is the hometown of Calem, Serena, and Shauna. To the north is Route 1.

The player's house is in the center house in a townhouse type dwelling in Vaniville Town. The player has just moved here from a region far away. The player's mother lives here, and is usually cooking something in the kitchen. This is where the player receives a Town Map, and the first change of clothes. The house has two stories; the top floor is the player's bedroom, complete with a bed, TV, Wii U, PC, a mirror where the player changes out of their pajamas at the beginning of the game, and a few drawers. In the anime
Vaniville Town is the hometown of Serena, her mother Grace, and her rival Shauna. The town first appeared briefly in Kalos, Where Dreams and Adventures Begin! at Serena's home, where Serena is woken up by Fletchling in her bedroom. It appeared again in the next episode where Serena is being forced to train for Rhyhorn racing under the watchful eye of her mother, though the Rhyhorn keeps jumping around and throwing Serena off. Later, Serena and her mother are watching the news on TV about a boy and a rampaging Garchomp on Prism Tower. In A Battle of Aerial Mobility!, Serena's home reappears with Serena choosing which attire to wear as she decides to head to Professor Sycamore's lab to choose her first Pokémon.
