The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero Part 2: The Indigo Disk (Japanese: 藍の円盤 The Indigo Disk) is the second expansion in the The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. It is scheduled for release on December 14, 2023.^[1]

It follows The Teal Mask. As such, completion of the main story of The Teal Mask, as well as completing the main story of Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet, are prerequisites to beginning the main story of The Indigo Disk.^[2]

Along with Carmine and Kieran^[3], several new characters are introduced. Cyrano, the director of Blueberry Academy^[4], and the BB League Elite Four, consisting of students Lacey, Crispin, Amarys, and Drayton, all make their debut.^[5]

New Pokémon and forms

The Legendary Pokémon Terapagos debuts in The Indigo Disk with its two forms, Normal and Terastal.^[6] An evolution of Duraludon called Archaludon also makes its debut.^[7] Two more Paradox Pokémon are introduced, Raging Bolt and Iron Crown.^[8]

New Activities

BB League

The Blueberry League, BB League for short, is a unique Pokémon battle league where students rise in ranks from the various Pokémon battles against each other. To face the BB League Elite Four, the player must pass four unique Elite Tests. Each member of BB League Elite Four occupies a biome in the Terarium. One Elite Trial by Amarys has Koraidon^S/Miraidon^V gain the ability to fly temporarily to pass through floating rings in the air.^[5]

League Club

Blueberry Academy has a League Club where participating players in the BB League can join to train through Pokémon battles. The player can also use the clubroom's computer to fund other clubs in the Academy using BP (Blueberry Points). Depending on the club they're helping, the player can receive thank-you gifts. One example is being able to redecorate the League Club room after sending funds to the Art Club.^[9]

Special Guests

While at Blueberry Academy, the player can invite familiar characters from Paldea for a visit, such as the Gym Leaders. Players will be able to do a variety of activities, such as taking photos, learning more about them, battling and trading Pokémon after interacting with the guest a few times.^[9] The traded Pokémon comes with a new Ribbon -the Partner Ribbon, which shows the original owner's name when the Pokémon is sent into battle, such as "Go! Iono's Magnemite!".^[10]

Blueberry Quests

Blueberry Quests, BBQs for short, are side quests assigned by the Academy. Completing these side quests earns the player BP. BBQs can be tracked in the notices menu, and players will also be able to take on group quests with friends through the Union Circle. One group quest will involve searching for Ditto that have transformed into blocks hidden around the Terarium.^[10]

Throwing Styles

By donating funds to the Academy's Baseball Club, players will have the ability to change the throwing style of their Pokeball during a battle. There are plenty of animations to choose from and can be changed whenever needed.^[10]

Synchro Machine

A new feature in the Terarium, the player can unlock the Synchro Machine after helping a Scientist with her research. The machine allows the player to synchronize with their Pokémon, allowing them to move around and battle other Pokémon. The Synchro Machine can also be used in the Union Circle as well, with the entire group synchronizing with their respective Pokémon.^[11]

Moves

Upper Hand and Psychic Noise are two new moves introduced that will be available starting with the release of The Indigo Disk.^[12] The signature moves for Raging Bolt and Iron Crown, Thunderclap and Tachyon Cutter, respectively, are introduced.^[13][14] Archaludon will also debut its signature move Electro Shot.^[7]

Other features

• All Starter Pokémon from past generations in the core series will return in The Indigo Disk. Players will be able to encounter them in the Terarium, a facility within Blueberry Academy that re-creates a variety of biomes. This will also allow players to see Starter Pokémon as they live in their natural habitats.^[15]
• After reaching a certain point in The Indigo Disk, the player can unlock Koraidon^S/Miraidon^V's ability to fly permanently. This allows the player to fly anywhere in Paldea, Kitakami, and the Terarium with their Legendary Pokémon.^[16]
• 25 different Legendary Pokémon from past generations in the core series will return in The Indigo Disk as well. To encounter them, the player must speak to a new character called Snacksworth at Blueberry Academy, who will only appear after completing the main story of The Indigo Disk. Meeting certain conditions will allow Snacksworth to give special snacks needed to encounter the specific Legendary Pokémon back in Paldea. Snacksworth will also share stories of his heroic encounters and extensive knowledge of the Legendary Pokémon.^[17]
