Pokémon world locations |
The Pokémon Mansion (Japanese: ポケモンやしき Pokémon Mansion) is an area located on the northern half of Route 212. It is a big, old mansion owned by Mr. Backlot, the owner of Amity Square. The house is well-guarded outside. It is also the home of the famous Trophy Garden, which is located to the rear.
In the games
It has many rooms, with the most important of them being Mr. Backlot's office, which is where a Pokémon statue guarded by a policeman is located. However, the guard is on break from 2 A.M. until 6 A.M., leaving the player free to touch the statue. (However, doing so will have no effect on the player or game whatsoever, even if they return after touching it.) In addition to touching the statue, Pokémon Platinum players can record Manaphy's data (as a seen Pokémon) from the book lying on Mr. Backlot's desk. This is often essential to complete the Sinnoh Pokédex. Other rooms in the mansion have beds, which can be used by the player to rest themselves along with their Pokémon.
A butler and many maids are employed in the Mansion. In Pokémon Platinum, players may fight the maids in the 5-Maid Knockout Exact-Turn Attack Challenge, in which five maids must be beaten in a certain number of turns (no more, no less). The prize for winning the challenge is a duel with either Lady Celeste or Rich Boy Liam.
The western and eastern exits of the mansion are blocked by the maids. Neither of these doorways are functional, and only serve as decoration, as players with Action Replay have proven.
