Happiny (Japanese: ピンプク Pinpuku) is a Template:Type2 Pokémon. It is a baby Pokémon, the pre-evolutionary form of Chansey.
Biology
Physiology
Happiny are small, egg-shaped creatures. Their whole entire bodies have soft skin-- the top half and curly pigtail-like appendage are light pink, and the bottom half has an elastic, diaper-like, red and white pouch attached to it. There are three round bumps on Happiny's forehead. Their cheeks are red like their pouches. They have stubby limbs and are normally seen carrying a Oval Stone in their pouches.
Gender differences
Happiny is female only.
Special abilities
In the anime, Happiny are shown to be extremely strong. Brock's has been seen lifting very heavy things above her head. Its field move in Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia, Crush, may also link to this.
Behavior
Happiny has a fascination for anything white and round. As such, she has the aforementioned habit of carrying an Oval Stone in her pouch to imitate her evolved forms.

Trivia
- Due to the three lumps at the front of its head and its ponytail, it bears a resemblance to Nurse Joy.
- Happiny is the only Pokémon to date with a catch rate of 130.
- Happiny, along with Chansey, has the lowest base stat for both Attack and Defense in the games.
- Happiny is the third Pokémon to like round things; the first two being Quagsire and Meowth.
- In the games, Happiny gives 255 base experience points, greater than all other Pokémon besides its evolutionary relatives Chansey and Blissey and the all-powerful Arceus, all of which give the same amount.
- Happiny, and its evolution family, Chansey and Blissey, have the most in-game items associated with them. This includes: Lucky Punch, Lucky Egg, Luck Incense and the Oval Stone.
- Happiny and the other members of its evolution family share the same abilities as both forms of Shaymin.
Origin
Happiny is vaguely based on marsupials that carry young. Its behavior may also be based off that of a young girl's.
Name origin
Pinpuku may be derived from the Japanese word ピンク pinku, meaning pink, the color that this Pokémon is, and 福 fuku, good fortune. Happiny is derived from the words happiness and tiny.
