Dusclops (Japanese: サマヨール Samayouru) is a Ghost-type Pokémon.
Pokédex entries
- Pokémon Ruby
- Dusclops's body is completely hollow - there is nothing at all inside. It is said that its body is like a black hole. This Pokémon will absorb anything into its body, but nothing will ever come back out.
- Pokémon Sapphire
- Dusclops absorbs anything, however large the object may be. This Pokémon hypnotizes its foe by waving its hands in a macabre manner and by bringing its single eye to bear. The hypnotized foe is made to do Dusclops's bidding.
- Pokémon Emerald
- It is thought that its body is hollow with only a spectral ball of fire burning inside. However, no one has been able to confirm this theory as fact.
- Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen
- Its body is entirely hollow. When it opens its mouth, it sucks everything in as if it were a black hole.
Name origin
Dusclops's name is probably a combination of dusk and cyclops. Its Japanese name is probably a combination of 彷徨う samayou, to wander about, and 夜 yoru, night. The French name may be based of a combination of terror and cyclops.
Dusclops may be based on a cyclops, a mythical race of giants that had one eye. Dusclops is also similar to chōchin obake, one-eyed haunted paper lanterns and mummies.
Obtaining
=In side games
Pokémon Pinball: Ruby and Sapphire: Dusclops has its own mini-game on the Sapphire Table, but Dusclops only appears after 20 Duskulls have been hit. Hit Dusclops 5 times to win, but only hit it from behind, otherwise the ball will get sucked up and then spit out.
