While Brock goes to a pharmacy he leaves Ash and Dawn in charge of taking care of the Pokémon, leaving a list of things to do with the Pokémon while he's gone.  Ash and Dawn clean, feed, and put the Pokémon down for their naps. As Ash is trying to figure out a way to avoid Fantina's Drifblim's hypnosis he ends up falling asleep himself.  When Dawn goes to wake Ash up, Pikachu comes in saying something's wrong.  The two go outside to find that {{TP|Dawn|Pachirisu}} has a fever. The two try doing everything they can think of to make Pachirisu feel better. When Pachirisu won't eat they have to get Brock, so Ash sends Staravia to get him.  While Staravia is flying, Team Rocket tries to catch it, and so after a while Ash decides to send Gliscor. When Brock gets back he finds out that Pachirisu has an electric cold, and so he uses an electricity discharger to get Pachirisu's electricity back to normal as well as a pill to keep its electricity under control.  After thwarting Team Rocket's plan to steal Rachirisu, Brock suggests that it would be a good idea for the two to learn first aid.

Trivia

  • Professor Oak's Pokémon lecture: Glaceon.
  • Team Rocket seeing a Zapdos from their balloon in this episode may be a reference to Pokémon Platinum, in which all three legendary birds can be found roaming Sinnoh. This was also the first episode aired after the game's Japanese release.
  • Pachirisu becoming ill from having too much electricity is reminiscent of Pikachu's condition from Hoenn Alone!, which is shown in this episode, Get the Show on the Road! and Watt's With Wattson?, which in turn is reminiscent of Pikachu's cold in Sparks Fly for Magnemite.
  • The rhyming dub title may be a pun on "Doc Ock," the nickname of the character Doctor Octopus from the Spider-Man franchise.
  • Buneary's vest from The Bells are Singing! is shown again in this episode.
  • As of yet, "Doc Brock!" is the shortest dub title for an episode in the Diamond & Pearl series.
  • Dawn reads the title card for this episode.
  • The dub version of the credits showed the former 4Kids logo at the end. The reason for this is unknown, although it may have been an unintentional result of switching the show's credits to the system used for other Cartoon Network shows.
  • This episode features some similarities with the beginning of Giratina and the Sky Warrior. In this episode, Ash and his friends' Pokémon take baths and eat pancakes. This also happens to Shaymin in the movie. Shaymin also gets a mild fever, similar to Pachirisu. Coincidentally, both of these premiered during the same weekend in America.

Errors

  • While Croagunk is looking at himself in the mirror, his Japanese voice can be heard.
