Alex Davis and his Alakazam

Alex Davis (Japanese: ノボル Noboru) is an anime-exclusive Pokémon Trainer who appeared in Power Play. Announcing himself as "Alex Davis from Cherrygrove City" at the beginning of the episode, he challenged Gary Oak to a Pokémon Battle using his Alakazam. Alakazam first used Zap Cannon, which Umbreon dodged, which led Alakazam to use Psychic, which had no effect at all. Using his Umbreon's finishing move Hidden Power, Gary was able to defeat Alex without much trouble. Ash, Misty, and Brock, who had been traveling nearby heard the battle, leading to another encounter between Ash and his rival.

In the English version, Alex is given a Cockney accent.

His Alakazam knows at least seven different moves, more than any of the Pokémon games allow.
