Trivia

• In some areas of Japan, this episode was broadcast in two parts instead of as a one-hour special; the opening changes in AG172 debut in this episode instead. The english dub also originally broadcast as a special but later aired in the standard arc in the proper order as two seperate episodes.
• This episode is directed by 須藤典彦 Norihiko Sudō, who replaces 日高政光 Masamitsu Hidaka.
• This episode was aired as a special to coincide with the release of Pokémon Ranger for the Nintendo DS. Sceptile's evolution had only happened in an episode that aired that morning.
