Fortree City (Japanese: ヒワマキシティ Hiwamaki City) is in the Hoenn region, roughly between Mauville and Lilycove. West of Fortree City is Route 119 and the Weather Institute. East is Route 120 and the Safari Zone beyond that. The city's motto is "The Treetop City that Frolics with Nature."

The inhabitants of Fortree City live in treehouses. Residents of Fortree City get around by a system of rope bridges that hang in the treetops. Because of the physical exercise needed for such a lifestyle, everyone is healthy and lively. By preserving the natural environment in the area, people are able to live closer to wild Pokémon than in other towns. Sometimes wild Template:Type2 Pokémon fly in through windows, and wild Kecleon will block certain paths in the city. The extensive rainwater in the area saturates the soil and causes the trees to grow tall. This is how Fortree City's trees get so large.

Fortree Gym

Main article: Fortree Gym

Fortree's Gym Leader, Winona, uses Template:Type2 Pokémon. When defeated, she awards the challenger the Feather Badge, which allows the player to use Fly outside of battle. Fortree Gym can't be accessible at first due to an invisible Kecleon, the player must use the Devon Scope, given to the player on Route 120 by Steven.

Residential houses

A woman in one of the houses of Fortree City will give away TM10 (Hidden Power) if you guess which hand she is hiding a coin in three times. A boy in one of the houses will trade his Plusle for a Volbeat in Pokémon Emerald.

Desk and chair shop

There is a shop in bottom-right corner of Fortree City that sells a variety of Secret Base decorations. There are two counters, one selling desks and the other selling chairs.
