Glalie (Japanese: オニゴーリ Onigohri) is an Ice-type Pokémon.
Pokédex entries
- Pokémon Ruby
- Glalie has a body made of rock, which it hardens with an armor of ice. This Pokémon hs the ability to freeze moisture in the atmosphere into any shape it desires.
- Pokémon Emerald
- A Glalie has the power to instantaneously freeze moisture in the atmosphere. A dazzling cloud of diamondlike ice crystals forms around its body.
Name origin
Glalie's name is likely a combination of glacier and goalie. Its Japanese name is a combination of 鬼 oni, demon, and 氷 kōri, ice. Its name could also be a pun on お握り onigiri, rice ball, to which it has a slight resemblance. It could also be oni goalie, or demon goalie. The French name appears to be a mixture of the Japanese and English names.
It shares physical similarities with a hockey goalie's mask as well as with onigiri.
