Trivia
- In Generation III Lombre's "hat" has a cut on his left, but in Generation IV it changes and the cut is located on his right.
Origin
Lombre's appearance is similar to the Japanese mythological creature known as the Kappa. Unlike Golduck, this Pokémon is more like the kappa as it has the same dish on its head filled with water that is the source of its power, just as this Pokémon uses Rain Dish to replenish itself. It also has facial features similar to the kappa, such as a turtle-like beak.
Name origin
Lombre's name could be a combination of lotus and the Spanish word for hat, sombrero. The same goes for its Japanese name Hasubrero, with 蓮 hasu meaning lotus, and its German name, Lombrero. Lombre also contains the Spanish word for man, hombre.
In other languages
- German: Lombrero - Combination of "lotus" and "sombrero" ("hat" in Spanish).
- French: Lombre
- Korean: 로토스 Lotos
