Userspace policy
Hi there! Welcome to Bulbapedia. Just wanted to note our userspace policy, which states that your userspace pages, including personal edits to your user page, user talk page, and any other pages beginning with your username, are restricted to 3 edits per day, and you must make more productive edits, such as by improving articles for the encyclopedia, than personal edits.
You also need to be autoconfirmed (unlocked after making a certain number of edits to articles and having an account for a while) in order to create your user page, and you cannot go around this by creating your talk page as a personal user page instead.
If you'd like to experiment with editing, you're free to use the sandbox, though keep in mind that the sandbox is intended for material that will be useful for the encyclopedia. If you just want to test something out or create an image for your own use, you can always use the Preview button to take a screenshot without needing to save your edits to the server. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks! Landfish7 11:08, 11 April 2025 (UTC)
- @Landfish7 Did I make any mistake? I was testing some Pokemon team related edits. But sometimes the edits were not being saved saying vandal filter 3. XYZ 250706 (talk) 11:27, 11 April 2025 (UTC)
- That is an automatic filter applied to newer accounts, triggered when attempting to remove content from a page. Landfish7 11:31, 11 April 2025 (UTC)
- @Landfish7 I was not removing any content. I was editing the content. Like changing moves, abilities. XYZ 250706 (talk) 11:33, 11 April 2025 (UTC)
- The filter can be sensitive and assume that content is being removed if existing content is being altered. You can get around this by editing small chunks at a time. However, you've made a large number of consecutive edits, which causes strain on our servers, so I'd highly suggest using the preview button to limit the number of edits you're making. New accounts also have a limit to the amount of edits that can be made in a short period of time, so if you do not use the preview button to limit your edits, you may find yourself locked out of editing for a short period. Purpose of a Talk page
As per the userspace policy and the Talk page policy, you may not use your talk page as a substitute for a userpage. A talk page is for having discussions, after all. If you want to be able to create your own userpage, you must be Autoconfirmed, meaning you have to have been a user here for a certain amount of times and make a certain amount of mainspace edits (articles without a prefix). Also, as per the Talk page policy, don't remove talk page comments from your personal talk page. Thank you.--ForceFire 08:08, 12 April 2025 (UTC)
Preview button
Just letting you know that you have been placed in a group that requires you to view a Preview screen before making edits. I'm hoping this will help you get more comfortable with previewing your edits before saving so that you can make your changes in a single edit instead of multiple small ones.
Additionally, please try to focus your edits on improvements to the wiki, such as fixing grammar or adding content, rather than minor changes like to sprites, as you did here. If there's a small change like this you think is a genuine improvement, please leave an explanation in the edit summary. Thanks! Landfish7 11:22, 14 April 2025 (UTC)
- @Landfish7 Can you please make such an arrangement so that if an editor edited an article in which I have also contributed, then I will not get email? XYZ 250706 (talk) 08:31, 20 April 2025 (UTC)
- You can do that by disabling "Email me when a page or a file on my watchlist is changed" in the "Your profile" tab of your preferences. C.Ezra.M (talk | contribs) 14:30, 20 April 2025 (UTC)
Userspace edits
Hello, a quick reminder to balance any edits that you make to your userspace (which should be no more than 3 per day) with edits to the encyclopedia in the mainspace. Thanks! Thespeon196 (talk) 10:10, 24 June 2025 (UTC)
Partial Block
Hi, I'm just letting you know that I have restricted your ability to edit on the userspace for a period of one month as you have been making excessive edits to the userspace without accompanying edits to the Wiki project; even after previous warnings by both Landfish7 and Thespeon196 informing you of our policy. This, however in no way affects your ability to contribute to the wiki at large. While editors are allowed to maintain a userspace, we do have these limits in place to encourage editors to balance out their work between personal projects and advancing the mission of the wiki in being a comprehensive information source about everything Pokémon. I encourage you to take the time to fully review our userspace policy. If you have any question about the action taken, please do feel free to contact me of any other member of the staff team. Thank you. 4iamking 14:26, 24 June 2025 (UTC)
- @4iamking Ohh I thought I have not edited for more than 3 times. Please unblock me for now. Besides I think userspace policy should not be restricted to such extent. Restriction can be there but not too hard. XYZ 250706 (talk) 13:34, 25 June 2025 (UTC)
- Our rules also require userspace edits to be accompanied by contributions to the mainspace (i.e. actual wiki pages); and for these edits to outnumber the amount of edits you do to your userspace. As you were warned by two separate staff members before and approximately 60% of your overall edits were to the user space and there have been no further contributions to the mainspace since action was taken, I do not see any reason to lift the restrictions currently placed on your account. However these restrictions are not permanent and you will have your userspace rights restored when the block expires assuming you follow our userspace policy going forward. 4iamking 15:49, 25 June 2025 (UTC)
Hi there
Thanks for your recent contributions! However, I've noticed you've made more personal edits to the userspace these past few days. This is fine! But please remember to make more edits to articles to balance out your userspace edits. Remember that using our server resources for your own personal purposes is a privilege earned by improving the wiki, which is ultimately our purpose here on Bulbapedia. Abusing this privilege can result in a permanent loss of userspace rights, so please make sure you are following the userspace policy. Thanks, and have a wonderful day. Landfish7 10:54, 29 July 2025 (UTC)
- @Landfish7 I don't think I have edited more than thrice a day in my userspace. XYZ 250706 (talk) 11:54, 29 July 2025 (UTC)
- Right, but a reminder that if you make three edits to your userspace on a given day, you must make at least four productive edits to the mainspace that same day. The idea is that we're focusing more on improving the encyclopedia than we are on personal edits, is all. Since you only edited the userspace yesterday and the day before, that's where I express concern. I'd recommend reading through the full policy again, and I'm here if you have any questions. Landfish7 14:34, 29 July 2025 (UTC)
- Friendly reminder to please be mindful of this, your last 5 edits were all to your userpage. If this continues we can remove your userspace access indefitnely. 4iamking 14:05, 14 August 2025 (UTC)
- @4iamking Actually what I was doing in the user page can be added for romhack article in bulbapedia. Btw I am an editor of Wikipedia with extended confirmed rights also. Wikipedia doesn't have too strict rules of this type. Wikipedia enables editors to have their personal sandbox where they can perform experiments and user page is mainly for some info about the editor. You should (just an opinion) decrease the strictness of the userpage policy keeping the interest of Bulbapedia intact. XYZ 250706 (talk) 14:53, 14 August 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for explaining that. To clarify, the userspace policy has no limit on constructive edits, especially those intended for the mainspace. This can be done in your userspace, in the sandbox, or in the Draft space.
- Do you mind explaining what you're working on? Is it for a specific ROM hack? Seems like something we don't currently have, so could be worth drafting in the Draft space at a title like Draft:ROM hack, incorporating the content into that page. That said, I'm not sure we intend to go super in-depth with game data from specific ROM hacks (and many of the hacks included on that page may not even be notable for inclusion on that page in the first place), so perhaps those are details we can work out somewhere, perhaps on the ROM hack talk page or, if you'd like, in the Bulbagarden Discord server. Landfish7 15:03, 14 August 2025 (UTC)
- To be clear, the content of your user page does not appear to be within scope, so any further edits to that page may still be considered personal edits. Additionally, I noticed the other day you made an edit that simply added unnecessary spaces to a page. Please note that edits such as these are not considered constructive. Landfish7 15:55, 19 August 2025 (UTC)
- @Landfish7 Suppose I am editing any table like the table given in the Elite Four article and I want to add Silvally Fire icon. Then how will I be able to do so? XYZ 250706 (talk) 07:07, 12 October 2025 (UTC)

Lance
"Lance most probably defeated Red to gain the title of Champion as Blue in SM/USUM says : "We were both Champions of the Kanto region, in our own days." This means that their 'own days' i.e., good days are gone now."
"Most probably" isn't good enough, nor does this even show that Lance defeated Red. It just means that both Blue and Red are former Champions; this was already true in the Johto games anyway. "Our own days" doesn't have to have a deep meaning behind it.
"Besides Lance also says in Hall of Fame : "It's been a long time since I last came here. This is where we commemorate the League Champion for all eternity. One has to defeat the reigning Champion to gain the title by rule."
Champions are allowed to step down from their positions. Both Steven (who offers his position to Wallace in the Delta Episode in the event that he decides to retire) and Peony (who did step down) are proof of this. PokemonMasterJamal3 (talk) 18:49, 28 August 2025 (UTC)
- @PokemonMasterJamal3 ‘Our own days’ can have (and I think has) that meaning. Besides as it’s not explicitly mentioned, we can add a neutral statement combining two opinions.
- Btw why does Gamefreak makes Lance say : ‘As the most powerful trainer and…’? XYZ 250706 (talk) 02:10, 29 August 2025 (UTC)
- In this context, though, it doesn't have that meaning. Keep in mind that these games were developed in Japan. In Japanese, Blue simply says "オレたちも カントーで チャンピオン だったんだぜ!", which roughly translates to "We were also Champions in Kanto!". There's no mention of "our own days" there, so it's just something the English translation added.
- I do agree that without explicit confirmation on either end, it's best to make the statement neutral (which I tried to do in my latest edit on that page).
- As for why Game Freak has Lance call himself the "most powerful Trainer", I'd imagine a large part of this is to make him seem like the actual final boss of the game, and I think him saying "There are two guys stronger than me" would both partially spoil the postgame of GS and make him quickly lose his intimidation factor for the player. Party templates
Hi. As announced in the recent Bulbapedia:Messages from the Editor, we recently updated Template:Party to function on mobile, which is something the previous versions were not able to accomplish. While I would like to hear your reasons on why it should be reverted (I'm not sure exactly what "Rest use standard template" is supposed to mean, since we're changing them all at the same time), I will preface my question with the fact that it is unlikely we will be reverting them back. Why are you undoing the changes? MaverickNate 06:53, 18 September 2025 (UTC)
- @Maverick Nate Can you tell the date of announcement? XYZ 250706 (talk) 05:08, 30 September 2025 (UTC)
- I linked it in the original post. The post from September 15th. MaverickNate 05:54, 30 September 2025 (UTC)
- @Maverick Nate I think three pokemon per row in six pokemon battle look better. XYZ 250706 (talk) 06:14, 30 September 2025 (UTC)
- @Maverick Nate Suppose I am editing any table like the table given in the Elite Four article and I want to add Silvally Fire icon. Then how will I be able to do so? XYZ 250706 (talk) 16:12, 17 October 2025 (UTC)
- What table are you referring to? Can I have a link? MaverickNate 00:01, 18 October 2025 (UTC)
- @Maverick Nate See the tables in the article Elite Four. XYZ 250706 (talk) 02:40, 18 October 2025 (UTC)
- Since that's not related to the Party Template, you'll have to ask that on that talk page itself. I'm not entirely sure what you are hoping to accomplish MaverickNate 03:30, 18 October 2025 (UTC)
- @Maverick Nate Ok. Btw is there any way to arrange the new party template so that three pokemon are in each row? XYZ 250706 (talk) 07:22, 18 October 2025 (UTC)
- It's still set to be by 3s, unless your screen isn't wide enough or the browser is too zoomed in, so it adjusts to fit. It's based on available room on each individual's screen. MaverickNate 02:52, 19 October 2025 (UTC)
- @Maverick Nate Just asking. Can we add base stats of Pokemon to party template? Or small columns denoting those stats? XYZ 250706 (talk) 04:09, 5 December 2025 (UTC)

Indefinite userspace block
As your last four edits across three different days throughout February have only contributed to your user page with personal content, with zero contributions to the mainspace, your userspace privileges have been revoked indefinitely. You may appeal this in 3 months provided you can demonstrate understanding of the userspace policy in regards to the limits on editing personal content.
In the meantime, should you need to prepare constructive content for the encyclopedia, you may use the community sandbox or Draft space to do so; keep in mind that any personal content added to any namespace will be removed on sight, and may result in further restrictions on your account.
If there's anything that you are unclear about, please ask me or another Leadership Board member. Thank you. Landfish7 18:24, 24 February 2026 (UTC)
