Hiya!

Hi there! Thanks for creating and expanding a number of articles during your time editing here. It's truly awesome to see! In case you didn't know, we have a manual of style we follow that comes in handy when editing. It details our style conventions and gives guidance on how to handle various situations. I'd recommend giving it a full read, but I'd like to share a few tips from there that I think could particularly help.

One thing is that article and section titles use sentence case and are not capitalized as titles unless the topic itself is the title of a particular work or is capitalized that way in the original source material.

As for terminology, we use official capitalization; some terms are rendered as proper nouns, like most items such as Potions or some mechanics like Mega Evolution, while other terms are always rendered in sentence case, only being capitalized if used at the beginning of a sentence, such as the term "move" or "status ailment". The Capitalization section of the manual of style gives some common examples.

Articles are also are not written in the second person; we don't use the word "you" e.g. "You can get the Reaper Cloth in Turnback Cave". Instead we'd rephrase it something like, "The Reaper Cloth can be obtained in Turnback Cave."

These are just a few things that I think could help, and if you have any questions, feel free to drop me a note or ask another staff member. Really appreciate your hard work, and I hope these tips prove useful. Thanks, and happy editing! Landfish7 22:30, 24 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hi
Thanks for the advice. I try to generally follow the language used in game when adding stuff. For example the research titles in New Pokemon Snap, in game the descriptions usually use 'you' and 'your' i.e. 'Register 50 species of Pokémon to your Photodex.', however I did see that this had been edited by yourself to say 'Register 50 species of Pokémon to the Photodex.'. Same with capitalization, using the same example, in game it reads 'Research Titles' hence why I originally started the article with that title.
But I do understand that there are rules to the site, that need to be followed. I can't promise that I will always remember to follow them as grammar isn't something I'm great at (blame autism and dyslexia for that). So copying the information is always easier for me than wording a sentence myself. For example, I've been working on updating and adding to the walkthrough section for Pokemon Ranger but it's been a slow process cause it's hard for me to find the words to use.
I may just need the odd reminder now and again.
Thanks :) Drjwho (talk) 22:58, 24 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
You're absolutely fine! One thing that can be tricky with in-game terminology is that it will often use title case in menus, but sentence case in sentence form such as in prose or dialogue. "Research titles" is one such instance of this, where the menu is titled "Research Titles", but things like character dialogue and tip screens use "research titles", so we'd use sentence case for it. I appreciate your attention to detail as far as comparing to the games. It's a bit of a balancing act for sure. Thanks for the reply, and hope you have a wonderful day! A note about your Pokopia edits

I'd recommend fact-checking your edits in-game a bit more instead of blindly copying from Serebii, as you did on the Pokopia items list page today—you carried over multiple missing-punctuation typos in the item descriptions from them, for instance. --Zyxyz (talk) 02:26, 23 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Good work!

Just wanted to drop in really quick and say that you're doing great work with adding Pokopia content. I wouldn't have known to use the template you've used to add item info about Pokopia to individual item articles. So I greatly appreciate the help. -- FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 15:28, 28 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Thanks :)
The template is something I put together for the Pokopia item pages, so it's by no means the 'correct' thing to use but I think its a simple way of getting information across. The Campfire page is the idea I'll be following for the rest of the items but if there's anyway that could be improved, I'd be really glad of the feedback. German translation of Pokopia items

Hello,

I am an editor on the German PokéWiki of the Encyclopaedia Pokémonis. I noticed that you created several Pokopia items.

The German wiki already has most of them as separate items, and if you enter the English name, you should also find the item you are looking for. I am currently creating redirects for the English names, but even without the redirects, you can already find the items we have created for your “in other languages” section and for interwiki links.

Thank you. Best regards. ~ HetAnubis ~ (talk) 10:45, 10 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

self links

Hey, just as general Wiki practice, we try to avoid explicit links going to the same article as the page your on, if you would rather have the text bolded that can be done just using the regular bolding by encasing the text with '''; but in the cases of the Pokopia item pages, just regular text should suffice :). 4iamking 22:14, 31 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

I think it stems from copying and pasting from other pages i.e. the recipe tables. I'll try to remember to go back and unlink them. Drjwho (talk) 22:26, 31 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
