Carmine (Japanese: ゼイユ Seille) is a recurring character in Pokémon Horizons: The Series. She is a Pokémon Trainer hailed from Kitakami.
In animation
History
Carmine debuted in Roy is Crocalor, and Crocalor is Roy!. During a harvest festival, Carmine was approached by Friede who wanted to know more about her Sinistcha. Not wanting to pay too much attention to him, she sent him away, but with his insistence, the two got into a series of disputes, which ended in a Pokémon battle between the two. Frustrated by her easy defeat, she challenged Friede once more, but after discovering that he was looking for Briar, Carmine revealed that she was her student and that she was currently at the Crystal Pool. She also remarked that Friede would require special permission to go there, which was granted by the Caretaker.
Character
Carmine tends to be distrustful towards people outside of her homeland, refusing to talk to Friede due to him being an outsider. She has a hot tempered and competitive personality; she hates losing and is always looking to challenge other people to various events for the sake of winning. This is shown explicitly when she kept losing to Friede and his Pikachu in various games, only getting more frustrated every time she lost, and continued to challenge him to more and more games until she settled for a Pokémon battle, which she also lost.
Carmine also doesn't enjoy when her claims are proven wrong or challenged, as after exclaiming the Caretaker wouldn't give Friede permission to go to the Crystal Pool, she was astonished at how quickly the Caretaker granted his permission, and was likewise frustrated at how unfair the situation seemed.

Sinistcha is Carmine's only known Pokémon and her main Pokémon. It was first used in a battle against Captain Pikachu, but it was soon defeated.
