Carmine (Japanese: ゼイユ Seille) is a recurring character in Pokémon Horizons: The Series. She is a Pokémon Trainer hailed from Kitakami.
History
Carmine debuted in Roy is Crocalor, and Crocalor is Roy!. During a harvest festival, Carmine was approached by Friede who wanted to know more about her Sinistcha. Not wanting to pay too much attention to him, she sent him away, but with his insistence, the two got into a series of disputes, which ended in a Pokémon battle between the two. Frustrated by her easy defeat, she challenged Friede once more, but after discovering that he was looking for Briar, Carmine revealed that she was her student and that she was currently at the Crystal Pool. She also remarked that Friede would require special permission to go there, which was granted by the Caretaker.
Carmine made an appearance in a flashback in The Pokémon Paradise of Laqua!.
About a year later, in Terarium Training!, Carmine reunited with Liko, Roy, and Dot, where she mentioned the battle she had with Friede and revealed that she is currently a researcher assisting Briar by traveling the world. While taking the young Trainers to reunite with Briar, Carmine joined the research on the Strong Sphere. Later, Carmine met with Liko and Ann to reveal some information about the research, taking the opportunity to question Liko about her connection to the Rising Volt Tacklers. Carmine explained that she knew the truth and that Liko didn't need to act formally with her.
In Ult-imate Training, Gimmighoul controlled Carmine into collecting coins for it which lead to Carmine chasing the Coin Chest Pokémon and Dot going after both of them. Carmine felt a little guilty for chasing Gimmighoul away before it was found in the cafeteria, to Dot's relief. Then Carmine challenged Dot to a battle with her Sinistcha in the battle, however, the two Pokemon endlessly exchanged Astonish between each other to Dot Quaxwell's exasperation before both Trainers are exhausted and the battle is called off. Carmine acknowledged the fact that Dot reminded her of her brother, to Dot's surprise.
In Don't Give Up, Crocalor!, Carmine attended Briar's meeting with the Rising Volt Tacklers and Penny regarding the partial results of the research on Laquium and Terapagos. Before the group left the Blueberry Academy, Carmine was the judge in Roy's rematch against Drayton. After the battle, Carmine and the other members of the Academy staff wished Liko and the Rising Volt Tacklers good luck.
Character
Carmine tends to be distrustful towards people outside of her homeland, refusing to talk to Friede due to him being an outsider. She has a hot tempered and competitive personality; she hates losing and is always looking to challenge other people to various events for the sake of winning. This is shown explicitly when she kept losing to Friede and Captain Pikachu in various games, only getting more frustrated every time she lost, and continued to challenge him to more and more games until she settled for a Pokémon battle, which she also lost.
Carmine also doesn't enjoy when her claims are proven wrong or challenged, as after exclaiming the Caretaker wouldn't give Friede permission to go to the Crystal Pool, she was astonished at how quickly the Caretaker granted his permission, and was likewise frustrated at how unfair the situation seemed.
Despite this, Carmine has a kinder side to her personality, as she tried to motivate Liko to ignore any possible derogatory comments about the Rising Volt Tacklers at Blueberry Academy. However, when Carmine saw Liko become the center of Briar's attention, and felt her position as a researcher threatened, Carmine reverted to her usual competitive temperament. This caused Carmine to adopt a different approach with the Rising Volt Tacklers and to become closer to Dot, mainly because she somewhat resembled her brother.

Sinistcha is Carmine's only known Pokémon and her main Pokémon. It was first used in a battle against Captain Pikachu, but it was soon defeated.
In Ult-imate Training, Sinistcha battled against Dot's Gimmighoul. However, the two Pokemon endlessly exchanged Astonish between each other until both of their Trainers were exhausted and the battle was called off.
Sinistcha's known moves are Matcha Gotcha and Astonish.
