These sets also reintroduced ACE SPEC cards. First introduced in the Black & White Series of the TCG, ACE SPEC cards are powerful cards with the restriction that only one ACE SPEC card of any sort can be included in a deck. ACE SPEC cards as of this set have a unique magenta design and may be Trainer cards or Special Energy cards.
Playing multiple Ancient Pokémon together increases the damage Koraidon can deal and allows more cards to be drawn with the ACE SPEC Awakening Drum. Using the Supporter cardExplorer's Guidance allows Great Tusk to discard more cards from the opponent's deck, while Roaring Moon can deal more damage with more Ancient cards in the player's discard pile. These Pokémon can also increase their defensive capability using the Ancient Booster Energy Capsule, which has been reprinted in this set. Additionally, Scream Tail can be played to heal damage from Ancient Pokémon on the Bench. The Future Pokémon can deal more damage while Iron Crown ex is in play, and additional Energy can be attached to them using Miraidon and the ACE SPEC Reboot Pod. Playing the Supporter card Ciphermaniac's Codebreaking increases the damage dealt by Iron Valiant or can set up a strong attack from Iron Thorns, the latter of which discards Future cards from the top of the player's deck. The Future Booster Energy Capsule, which has also been reprinted in Temporal Forces, can further increase the damage dealt by Future Pokémon and allows Iron Treads to gain the Fighting type.
