The Sword & Shield V Starter Deck is an Asian-exclusive randomized deck, released alongside the Sword & Shield expansion in Taiwan and Hong Kong on June 19, 2020.
Information
The V Starter Deck is constructed in the same way as GX Starter Decks that supplemented expansions in the Sun & Moon Series, consisting of three groups that are randomly assembled. The first and second group focus on a particular type and include quantities of basic Energy cards that support it. There are 18 varieties of the first group, each of which contains 18 cards including one Pokémon V; the second group has 7 possible varieties each containing 16 cards. The cards within each group variant are always the same. The third group contains a random selection of 26 cards sourced from a pool of Item and Supporter cards.
The deck includes a number of cards that cannot be found in the main Sword & Shield expansion. Those found in both products can be differentiated by their collection number and set symbol. Cards from the deck also lack rarity symbols and any Holofoil patterns, including Pokémon V. Each deck comes packaged with a rulesheet and a cardboard sheet containing damage counters and status markers.
