Its knotted neck and body shape may be a reference to a {{wp|Balloon modelling|balloon animal}}, a {{wp|boxing glove}}, or a {{wp|Plastic flamingo|plastic flamingo lawn ornament}}. Flamigo's classification and Fighting-type may be a reference to the elaborate, synchronized courtship dances performed by flamingos, which can encompass the entirety of a flock. The pale pink color of Flamigo's {{Shiny}} form may reference how the bright pink color of flamingos' plumage becomes a duller shade of pink the longer they go without eating.
