The '''Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon Special Demo Version''' (Japanese: '''ポケットモンスター サン・ムーン 特別体験版''' ''Pocket Monsters Sun and Moon Special Demo Version'') is a special, expanded {{wp|game demo|demo}} edition of [[Pokémon Sun and Moon]]. It is set for worldwide release on October 18, 2016, in promotion of its parent game, which will release the following month. Unlike its predecessor, the [[Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire Special Demo Version|Special Demo Version]] for {{pkmn|Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire}}, this demo will be immediately available to download to the public via [[Nintendo]]'s eShop or through their homepage.

The {{player}} is given a [[Ash's Greninja|special Greninja]] from {{Ash|a certain Trainer}}, and will have the opportunity to use it as a member of their [[party]]. Because of its Ability, {{a|Battle Bond}}, this Greninja will be able to transform into Ash-Greninja after defeating a Pokémon. At the end of the demo, the player will be able to transfer the Greninja to their full Sun or Moon game. The player will also be able to use a {{p|Pikachu}} holding a [[Z-Crystal]], allowing them to use a [[Z-Move]].

The demo will feature a demonstration of the {{DL|Rotom Pokédex|Poké Finder}} feature. During the demo, the player will battle [[Plumeria]] and her {{p|Golbat}}.
