Lumi Cab (Japanese: ミアレタクシーMiare Taxi) is a taxi service in Pokémon X and Y and Pokémon Legends: Z-A that operates in Lumiose City, transporting passengers between various destinations within the sprawling city. The player can use the service as means to quickly travel directly to a specific location.
In the core series games
Pokémon X and Y
In Pokémon X and Y, the base fare is $710, but it increases based on the distance of the destination from the point of origin. All of the destinations are internally assigned to a section of the city, and those destinations in the same section share the same cost, with those in the same section as the taxi starts in costing the cheapest.
Each time the player takes a cab, they will gain 1 point of style. At 140 points of style, the driver will start giving a 50% discount on the fare. If the player does not have enough money to pay for the ride, the driver will challenge them to a battle.
When the player first arrives in Lumiose City, they cannot use Lumi Cab, due to its services being temporarily halted due to a blackout.
Destinations
The possible destinations are shown below, with the section the destination belongs to noted after the location. Destinations on the Boulevards are split between East and West destinations in addition to North and South, while more internal destinations (mostly on Avenues) are only differentiated by North or South.
In Pokémon Legends: Z-A, Lumi Cabs can be found all around Lumiose City. The service charges a flat rate of $710 to travel to any destination in the city. While traveling, the driver will talk to the player about about different aspects of the city. While the player can ordinarily fast travel to any travel points on the Map they've previously visited for free, the Lumi Cab can go to any travel point in the city, serving as a convenient way to quickly reach destinations the player has not been to yet.
Unlike in X and Y, the drivers will not battle customers who are unable to afford the cab fare, with an NPC in the Vert District remarking on how the practice was phased out during the intervening years. However, a driver named Zach is battled during the Z-A Royale as the Z-rank promotion match opponent.
The Lumi Cab's vehicle registration plates resemble a common design for registration plates in the European Union, featuring a white plate with a blue stripe on the left edge of the plate. However, the design used in France (the location Kalos is based on) typically features blue stripes on both sides.
