Walkthrough:Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky/Chapter 12
The Crystal
You return to the guild and report the events to the other members and Magnezone, who is now protecting Uxie and Mesprit.
Your team recounts the events to the when they mention that Uxie and Mesprit communicated through telepathy, Dusknoir informs them that's there's a third member of the lake trio, Azelf, and that they are likely guarding a Time Gear at a lakein an unsual place, like the others.
As the guild try to hash out where the lake is likely to be, Dusknoir suggest that you touch the crystal Bidoof grabbed at Crystal Cave to see if it will activate your Dimensional Scream. Bidoof agrees and the vision begins with a Pokemon you've never see before being knocked down by Grovyle who rushes to steal the Time Gear.
You explain what you saw to the guild, causing them to get excited until Chimecho asks whether it was the past or future you saw. You're unsure until Dusknoir diffuses the issue by stating that because Azelf was never mentioned prior to that moment by Uxie or Mesprit, it's likely from the future. After waking up Wigglytuff who has been asleep the whole time, everyone heads off to Crystal Cave, including Dusknoir.
Crystal Cave
Crystal Cave is 11 floors with primarily Ground types.
Pokémon Encountered
| Pokémon | Floors | Levels | Recruit Rate | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Graveler | 1-6 | 24-25 | 0.5% | |
| Seviper | 1-7 | 24-25 | 6.4% | |
| Beldum | 1-7 | 22-23 | 6.4% | |
| Wormadam Sandy Cloak |
1-11 | 26-28 | 8.2% | |
| Cranidos | 5-9 | 25-26 | 8.2% | |
| Shieldon | 7-11 | 26-27 | 8.2% | |
| Golem | 8-11 | 27-28 | 0.5% | |
- Graveler/Golem: Evolved forms of Geodude from all the way in Mt. Bristle. However, being much higher levelled, they finally can have moves that can make it a dangerous: Magnitude, which hits everyone else in the room (even its own allies), Rock Polish to make it faster, Rollout for a multhit move and Selfdestruct to explode, possibly destroying useful items.
- Seviper: C IQ Group. It has access to Screech for massive defense recution and Glare for paralysis, as well Lick, Bite and Poison Tail via level-up right now, as well as some coverage moves such as X-Scissor, Dig or Iron Tail via TMs, and even Dark Pulse for range. Its exclusive items gives it chance to cause cringing on attackers.
- Beldum: E IQ Group. Beldum is a Pokémon that isn't really useful until it evolves, knowing Take Down and nothing else. Its exclusive items reduce damage from explosions to 1, make it ignore Dark-type's immunity and give Ground-type damage absorption.
- Wormadam (Sandy): Somewhat better than the Trash cloak from Landslide Cave, as it has access to Rock Blast via level and Dig via TMs.
- Cranidos: C IQ Group. Cranidos is one of the Pokémon that was effectively buffed in Mystery Dungeon. While it has access to Focus Energy, Pursuit and Scary Face via level, as well as Screech and Zen Headbutt in postgame, the real good part is its varied TM compatibility. In mainline games, this compatibility is rather useless, given its gargantuan Attack but pitiful Sp. Attack; however, here, both of its attacking stats grow roughly the same, meaning it can take advantage of Ice Beam, Blizzard, Thunderbolt, Shock Wave, Flamethrower quite as well as Dig. Its Mold Breaker also makes it break through things like Flash Fire or Lightning Rod. If you are willing to aim for completion, it's best to recruit two here, as Rampardos cannot be recruited in dungeons. Its exclusive items make it ignore Reflect and Light Screen, as well as give it Steel-type damage absorption.
- Shieldon: E IQ Group. It has access to natural Protect, as well as Metal Sound and Swagger. In post-game it will also learn Endure and Metal Burst. Has similarly wide TM compatibility to Cranidos, though its ability isn't offensive and its attacking stats do fall off a bit by Lv. 100. Like above, Bastiodon is not available via dungeons, so completionists should get two.
After getting through the dungeon, you see three large crystals. Your partner touches one of them, and it changes colors. Dimensional Scream triggers, where a voices say that changing the color of all three crystals to the same color will reveal the path. The color they need to be is the same as Azelf's spirit. The correct color is blue, so change them all to blue and continue into Crystal Crossing.

- Bagon: E IQ group. Has Bite, Headbutt, Focus Energy via level-up, will learn the STAB projectile DragonBreath in few levels and at postgame levels learns Scary Face. Being a Dragon-type, it can also learn Flamethrower via TMs and some things for coverage like Aerial Ace or Shadow Claw. Its exclusive items make it immune to critical hits, reduce damage from explosions to 1 and convert Ice-type damage into healing.
- Floatzel: F IQ group. Has Ice Fang, Pursuit, Aqua Jet, and just the right level to get Agility. Aside from typical Water-type Pokémon TMs, it get access to both Focus Punch and Focus Blast, and Dig. Its exclusive items increases its Movement Speed during Rain (although it cannot summon rain on its own to take advantage of this or Swift Swim) and turn Electric-type damage into healing.
- Wormadam (Plant): The final Wormadam form. Learns Razor Leaf and at postgame levels Leaf Storm, while also getting Bullet Seed and Energy Ball via TMs.
- Glameow: G IQ group. Has Charm, Faint Attack, Hypnosis, and STAB Fury Swipes and Fake Out, while also learning Water Pulse, Dig, Thunderbolt, Shock Wave and Shadow Ball via TMs, among other things. Own Tempo and Limber prevent confusion and paralysis, both status conditions that can threaten you. Its exclusive items may cause attackers to be infatuated and convert Fighting-type damage into healing. Do keep in mind there is no dungeon to recruit Purugly in this game, so completionists will need to recruit this one twice!
- Absol: C IQ group. It has Pursuit, Bite, Swords Dance, and will learn Double Team in few levels, then at postgame levels it also gets Detect, Sucker Punch, and even Perish Song. It has pretty good TM compatibility, learning Water Pulse, Thunderbolt, Flamethrower, Shadow Ball, X-Scissor and obviously Dark Pulse. Its exclusive item causes attackers to sometimes be affected by Perish Song.
- Glalie: A IQ group. Glalie's level-up moveset is actually pretty good: it gets STAB room clearer in Powder Snow, Double Team, Bite, Headbutt, projectile Icy Wind to slow down enemies, Protect, Ice Fang, and at postgame levels Blizzard and even Hail, so that it can benefit from its Ice Body ability and perfectly accurate Blizzard! It also can learn Water Pulse, Shadow Ball and Dark Pulse via TMs if that's not enough. Its exclusive items cause attackers to be sometimes frozen, and convert Fire-type and Dark-type damage into healing thanks to being part of a branched evolution family.

Crystal Lake
Once you advance to the end of the dungeon you'll arrive at Crystal Lake. You see the glow of a Time Gear in the distance, and your partner spots a figure so you head towards it. You've arrived at the point your vision took place with Grovyle defeating Azelf.
Before Grovyle can move towards the Time Gear, Azelf, who was warned that Grovyle would show up and anticipating a scenario where they would lose, puts a barrier of crystals around the lake to prevent Grovyle from succeeding. Grovyle moves to finish off Azelf but you and your partner stop him and start a battle.
Boss Battle
Grovyle is guaranteed to know Slam. The three other known moves will vary between the following: Pound, Leer, Absorb, Quick Attack, Fury Cutter (hits twice in a turn), Pursuit (counter-like effect), Screech (greatly reduces target's Defense, making them more vulnerable) Leaf Blade and Agility (very dangerous if not prepared for given the increased speed).
Although Grovyle is a notorious criminal and might possibly be carrying dangerous attacks, at this point in story you should be able to prepare yourself pretty well. Consider what useful moves you might have access on your side (such as Sleep Powder or SmokeScreen) or items, and utilize them to your advantage.
Regardless of the outcome of the battle, Grovyle knocks your team back then tries to take your partner down but Dusknoir arrives and stops him. protects you again. However, Grovyle escapes and Dusknoir gives chase while the rest of the guild arrive and helps your team back to the guild.
