Trace (Japanese: トレース Trace) is an ability introduced in Generation III. Five Pokémon have this Ability.
Effect
In battle
Trace copies the Ability of the current opponent, for all intents and purposes. Trace is able to copy Wonder Guard, but not Multitype, or Illusion. If both the Pokémon and opponent have Trace, it will do nothing. If used in a double battle, Trace will randomly copy either opponent's Ability.
Outside of battle
Trace has no effect outside of battle.
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon
Trace is only activated when the Pokémon is attacked, and one Ability chosen at random is copied.
