History

Sprigatito and Liko

Sprigatito debuted in HZ001, when Liko received it as her starter Pokémon by the Indigo Academy. At first, Sprigatito and Liko didn't get along well, with the Grass Cat Pokémon scratching its Trainer's hand and running off to its own. In its battle debut against Ann's Oshawott, Sprigatito didn't listen to Liko's instructions, which led to it getting hit by a Water Gun.

During the next days, Liko worked hard to strengthen her bond with Sprigatito by learning more about it and make it listen to her instructions in battle, but to little avail. When Amethio first approached Liko, Sprigatito immediately got suspicious of him and led its Trainer to the school's rooftop. It then went up against Zir's Rhydon and won after subduing it with its aroma. After being rescued by Friede, they were taken aboard his airship with the other members of the Rising Volt Tacklers, but were soon confronted by Amethio and his teammates. When Liko was about to give herself up, Sprigatito started yelling at her, making her realize she has been lying to herself. Then, Sprigatito followed Liko's instructions and unleashed a Leafage strong enough to break the forcefield around Wing Deck, but got blown overboard in the process, which allowed the Explorers to capture it before fleeing.

Sprigatito's scent putting Rhydon to sleep

In HZ003, Sprigatito was kept in a warehouse with Conia, who had taken a liking to Sprigatito and was giving it food and toys. With the help of Murdock's Rockruff, Liko located Sprigatito and took it back from the Explorers, only to be confronted by Conia and her Skarmory. Sprigatito was able to blind Conia and Skarmory with Leafage, allowing them to escape. Sprigatito and its Trainer then joined the Rising Volt Tacklers as official members.

In HZ005, Sprigatito battled Conia and her Golduck, and quickly defeated them. However, Sprigatito and Liko were almost ambushed by Amethio and his Corviknight. Fortunately, they were saved by Liko's pendant. Sprigatito then teamed up with Fuecoco in battling Amethio's Ceruledge. Despite being two against one, Ceruledge was clearly dominating the battle, which ultimately came to a halt when a Black Rayquaza emerged from Roy's ancient Poké Ball, resulting in Amethio and the other Explorers retreating.

In HZ007, Sprigatito briefly sparred against Roy's Fuecoco. However, they didn't make much progress, as both Pokémon tired themselves into a draw after consecutive uses of Leafage and Ember. Later, after being unable to talk to Dot, Liko and Roy's determination to get stronger convinced Friede into holding a special training session for the rookies: this time, Sprigatito and Fuecoco faced off against Captain Pikachu and needed to land only a single hit on the Mouse Pokémon to win the match. While they initially struggled against his Double Team, Sprigatito managed to almost score a Scratch after its Trainer figured out Pikachu's behavior. After a lunch break, where Sprigatito was revealed to like the dry flavor, Sprigatito battled against Fuecoco once more in order to see how much the special training paid off. In the end, despite being at a type disadvantage, Sprigatito knocked Fuecoco out with its newly-learned Quick Attack, giving Liko the win. This battle was the first step for the new Rising Volt Tacklers to get closer to Dot, who let them know that the Black Rayquaza was in Paldea.

Sprigatito has shown to be brave, headstrong, and somewhat reckless. However, unlike its species, Sprigatito isn't the affectionate type nor an attention-seeker. Sprigatito also does not like receiving affection. Despite its initial coldness towards those around it, Sprigatito has shown to be relaxed and enjoys sunbathing. Sprigatito has also shown to not be easily impressed with various things, such as Roy's singing in HZ005. Sprigatito is shown to like dry flavored food, like matcha cupcakes. Sprigatito is easily startled by loud noises, and is also easily provoked, seen during its training against Captain Pikachu, in which its Double Team copies easily frustrated the Grass Cat Pokémon. It has also shown to not like water.

Initially, Sprigatito didn't listen to Liko's commands as it wasn't interested in her, preferring to sit out on the roof of the Indigo Academy instead of hanging out with her. However, after witnessing its Trainer attempt to understand its habits, Sprigatito started to care about Liko and came to appreciate her affection, often sitting on her shoulder or head. Ever since the events of HZ002, Sprigatito mellowed out as it became friendly with both people and Pokémon. Much like its Trainer, Sprigatito can be cautious of trusting others, as seen in HZ001, when it growled at Amethio after he presented himself as a representative of Liko's grandmother. Aside from this, Sprigatito has been shown to get jealous of other Pokemon winning Liko's affection, as seen in HZ009, where it immediately grew jealous of Alex's Fidough getting along with Liko. However, when Sprigatito realized that a wild Lechonk was attacking Liko, it ran to defend her.

Sprigatito is capable of releasing a sweet scent from its paws that relaxes those who smell it. As shown in its battle against Zir's Rhydon, it is strong enough to put a Pokémon to sleep in the middle of a battle. Sunbathing will strengthen the power of its sweet scent. It has also been shown using Leafage to blind opponents on multiple occasions as a way to circumvent its lack of strength.
