Cliff Edge Gate (Japanese: がけっぷちゲート Ragged Cliff Gate) is a small cavern on Cianwood island that leads between the small island town and Route 47. It is blocked when the player first arrives on the island in Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, however, after Amphy has been healed in Olivine City, it is no longer under construction, and the player can pass through to Route 47.
It serves only as a passageway until after the player has obtained HM08 (Rock Climb) and can use it outside of battle, at which point Pokémon are available in the small pond in the middle.
Interestingly, despite being a cave, its background music is the same as that of Routes 34, 35, 36, and 37.
