Arlo (Japanese: アルロ Arlo) is one of the Leaders of Team GO Rocket in Pokémon GO.

Arlo was the third and final Team GO Rocket Leader encountered by one of Professor Willow's assistants. Prior to joining Team GO Rocket, Arlo was a member of Team Valor and a close friend of Candela, but suddenly left some time after Candela became the Team Valor Leader, and she had not heard from him since. While researching at a field with Professor Willow, Candela spotted Arlo at a distance, surrounded by a large group of his Shadow Pokémon. Considering Blanche's and Spark's earlier encounters with the other Team GO Rocket Leaders, Candela and Professor Willow retreated back to the lab, seemingly unnoticed by Arlo.[1]

Arlo is known to be sly and manipulative. After joining Team GO Rocket, he has contributed to its Shadow Pokémon program. Apparently, Arlo turned to Team GO Rocket because it was able to offer him what Team Valor could not.[2]

On November 5, 2019[3], Arlo sent the following message to Candela:

"Candela. After all this time, you still haven’t changed. Tsk.
Remember, fire is a fickle thing. When controlled, it provides warmth, but in the wrong hands, it burns.
You will regret the day you took what was rightfully mine."

On July 26, 2020, during Pokémon GO Fest 2020, Arlo battled Candela. Candela initiated the battle by sending out a Rapidash, while Arlo sent a Scizor.[4] In the end, Candela won the battle.

Pokémon

Arlo uses a team of three Shadow Pokémon in a Trainer Battle, each independently and randomly selected from separate pools. Green-colored cells denote the Pokémon that will be encountered during the bonus challenge.

Quotes

Introduction
"Oh? Are you here to challenge me? Don’t test me."
"Are you the best that Candela and her little friends could find?"
"Tch... How dare riffraff such as yourself speak to me?"
"Only a fool would challenge me."
"Team GO Rocket’s domination is inevitable. Submit and you may be spared."
"Pokémon are our tools. We are entitled to power them up as we so choose. Commoners such as yourself would never understand."
"My sole purpose in life is to win. I’ll vanquish whoever dares to get in my way."
"Oh, do YOU think you can beat me? Someone of your standing? Hah!"
"What a fool you are to even think of battling me."
"Pokémon are my tools, and winning is my birthright. Get in my way, and you’ll be crushed, vermin."
Before battle
"Why do you insist on wasting my time?"
"Well, if you insist on battling, as a Trainer, I must accept. However, you will pay for inconveniencing me."
"You have such an air of arrogance about you. Allow me to dispel it for you."
"Your insolence disgusts me. I’ll make sure your confidence is utterly shattered following this battle."
"Your sense of self-importance sickens me. Are you prepared to be wholly humiliated?"
"Your arrogance will be your downfall, and I shall be the one to set that in motion."
"Loss is not a concept I’m acquainted with. I don’t expect that will change after this battle."
"A person of your stature shouldn’t be this confident. Fret not—I’ll do you the honor of teaching you this lesson."
"Usually I wouldn’t consider debasing myself by battling a commoner...but I’ll make an exception to humiliate you."
"You lack the gravitas to be in the presence of Team GO Rocket. I’ll finish this quickly."
Prebattle screen
"It’s time to learn your place in the world."
"I never lose."
"Prepare yourself for a world of hurt."
"Arrogance leads to failure."
"Your defeat comes on swift wings."
Upon victory
"Don’t be too disappointed. It was always going to end like this."
"I never lose. Now get out of my sight."
"If this is the best Candela and her little friends can offer, Team GO Rocket has nothing to worry about."
"If the rest of the Trainers of this world are like you, then Team GO Rocket’s success is assured."
"It was foolish of you to think you could beat me. It’s because of my brilliance that we have Shadow Pokémon!"
Upon being defeated
"How...how can this be? I...I never lose!"
"How dare you...humiliate me like this?"
"I haven’t felt this much humiliation since I lost my battle with Candela... You’ll pay for this."
"The last person to humiliate me like this was Candela. You’ll all pay for this..."
"I...I don’t understand... I never lose..."
