Talk:Roost (move)
Giratina and Roost
I think I was able to teach my Giratina the move Roost using the TM, but until someone confirms this as possible I'm not going to edit the page. --M. Burusu 08:00, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
It isn't possible unless it is hacked... so if you got ove GTS it might be hacked... Crystal Lucario 12:18, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
Wait? What!?
Duxtox and beedrill aren't flying types but can learn roost?! Does not compute! Does NOT compute!--Quick Man107 02:27, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
- Mew. Smeargle. Latias. Latios. There's a bunch who aren't Flying that learn it. TTEchidnaFire echy 06:12, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
- The move is just used for HP recovering, the loss of FLying-type is ignored. TESHIGIGAS 14:15, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
Just a bit of curiosity.
If you make a Smeargle Pure-Flying type with Conversion, what type does it become if it then used Roost? --Phred 23:56, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
- It changes back to Normal. I tried it myself. Baby G 16:23, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
- This must be one reason why Arceus can't learn Roost. (Although if this is true then this would happen also, if Arceus did know Roost and held a Sky Plate. TorchicBlaziken 17:51, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
Loss of flying type?
By losing flying type, does the pokemon also loose weaknesses to electric, rock, STABs, etc.? The Dark Fiddler 14:50, 29 July 2008 (UTC)
- As far as I know, yep to all. But it's for that one turn, right? Sipulichu 15:24, 29 July 2008 (UTC)
- Let's take Gliscor as an example, a Flying and Ground typed Pokémon.
- If it uses Roost, for the rest of that turn, it will be just ground typed. The flying type is restored afterwards for STAB and typing advantages.
- I know it regains it's type afterwards as an Earthquake missed after a Roost, but a Brick Break did 1x damage rather than the normal 0.5x for a flying type while roosting. Gywall(Talk) 15:27, 29 July 2008 (UTC)
Which brings up a point...
What if a Smeargle Sketched this and Skill Swap, then swapped skills with a Kecleon, got hit by a Flying move, and then used Roost to recover the HP? TTEchidna 17:27, 9 August 2008 (UTC)
- Roost and Conversion could also create the necessary combination.
- Although I haven't tested it myself personally, odds are the programmers knew combinations like this were a possibility and programmed for those. It's a lot like ???-type Arceus, actually...--Shiningpikablu252 17:34, 9 August 2008 (UTC)
