Gems (Japanese: ダイヤ Diamond) are the premium currency in Pokémon Masters EX. Gems are used at the Shop to scout for sync pairs, which are chosen randomly from a pool of sync pairs. Gems are also used to purchase egg research items, as well as refilling the stamina gauge.
Functionality
Gems come in two types: Paid Gems and Non-paid Gems.
- Paid Gems are obtained through micro-transactions using real-world currency.
- Non-paid Gems are obtained through free methods.
Certain offers for sync pair scouts or items will only accept Paid Gems. Examples of paid-only offers include:
- Daily Discount: 100 Paid Gems can be spent to scout one sync pair.
- 5★-Guaranteed or 5★-Select Special Scout: Sync pair scout offers that guarantee a 5★ pair will usually require Paid Gems.
- Tiered Scout: Sync pair scouts that offer special tickets after a certain amount of scouts. These tickets can then be redeemed for a higher or guaranteed chance of receiving the featured sync pair.
- Egg research items: The Eggcelerator or Eggstreme passes, Egg Box expansion, or extra Incubator.
When spending Gems, Non-paid Gems are always spent first if possible, before Paid gems are spent. Otherwise, the two types of Gems are interchangeable.
Spending Gems
It costs 300 gems to scout one sync pair, or 3,000 gems to scout 11 sync pairs. There is also an option called the Daily Discount, where one sync pair can be scouted for 100 Paid Gems.
Gems can be spent to restore Stamina, at a rate of 40 Gems per 100 Stamina.
Acquisition
Gems can be obtained in several ways:
- First time rewards:
- Stages which only consist of dialogue (such as certain main story stages or sync pair stories) give 10 gems.
- Battles usually reward the player with 30 gems the first time it is cleared, although certain event battles may provide more.
- Main story battles give 30 Gems on Normal difficulty, and 100 Gems on Hard difficulty.
- Mission bingo - Event mission bingos may provide gem rewards.
- Daily Missions - Completing all daily missions grants 80 Gems.
- Special Completion missions:
- Completing the first 10 chapters of the PML Arc rewards 300 Gems per chapter. If the Story Bundle is purchased from the Shop, an additional 1,000 Paid Gems is available for each of these chapters.
- Completing the Champion Stadium on Normal, Hard Lv. 1, and completing an MVP medal reward 500, 1,000, and 1,500 gems respectively. If the Champion Bundle is purchased from the Shop, and additional 4,000, 5,000, and 6,000 Paid Gems are rewarded for the three objectives, respectively.
- Special log-in bonuses and event missions.
- Purchase with real money at the Shop.
- Gift Gems - Free packs of gems can periodically be collected from the Shop:
