Release information
The Japanese version of this card was available as an insert with the Pokémon Card GB Official Guidebook. Similarly, the English version of this card was available as an insert with the Pokémon Trading Card Game: Official Nintendo Player's Guide.
Trivia
The Card GB version of this card could only be obtained through Card Pop! and is the only card out of the two Phantom Cards to be actually produced. In the digital version of Pokémon Trading Card Game for the Nintendo 3DS however, Card Pop! is disabled, rendering this card unobtainable on that platform.
Origin
Solar Power is an Ability later introduced in the Pokémon games in Generation IV that Venusaur cannot have, however the Japanese name of the Pokémon Power is different from the Japanese name of the ability Solar Power, making the two unrelated. Mega Drain is a move in the Pokémon games that could only be learned by Venusaur via TM21 in Generation I. Its effect is similar to that of the attack on the card, as it deals damage then restores the user's health by an amount equal to half the damage done to the opponent. The card's English Pokédex entry comes from Pokémon Red and Blue, whereas the Japanese entry comes from Pokémon Red and Green.
