Trivia
- When this card was first released during the 1st Edition print run of the Base Set, the name was spelled as Impostor Professor Oak. This spelling of the name persisted through the Shadowless print run, and was only afterward changed to Imposter for the Unlimited print run. Imposter was then used for Base Set's 4th print, and the reprint in Base Set 2.
- The Impostor Professor Oak character has appeared in other Pokémon media, such as How I Became a Pokémon Card and Pokémon Adventures. He has also been featured on other cards.
- In Pokémon Adventures, Sabrina had her Kadabra disguise itself as Professor Oak. The transformation looks extremely similar to this artwork.
Origin
Imposter Professor Oak is based on Professor Oak, a character in the Pokémon games. In particular, this card is based on the Professor Oak card, the two having inverted effects.
