Pokémon Diamond & Pearl: Galactic Battles is the twelfth season of the Pokémon anime, following up to the eleventh season. It is the third season of the Diamond & Pearl series.
It should be noted that the concept of seasons does not exist in Japan, where episodes of Pokémon air nearly every Thursday. An invention of the American broadcast industry, a season is typically aired new for nine months out of the year, with three months (usually during the summer) taken off to begin production for the next season, during which reruns air. In Japan, no differentiation is made between this and any other seasons in the Diamond & Pearl series. However, there was no break between this season and the previous one.
It began with the dub of Get Your Rotom Running!.
Important events
- Ash defeats Byron in a gym battle after meeting Roark again. (DP108)
- Responding to a call by Barry, Ash and friends head for Iron Island and meet Riley and his Lucario. They discover Mars, along with some Team Galactic Grunts, are attacking the Iron Island to make a scan of Mt. Coronet in search of Spear Pillar. Professor Carolina reappears to study the island. (DP110-DP111)
- Dawn wins her fourth ribbon in the Chocovine Contest, after battling with a girl named Ursula. (DP114)
- Ash enters another PokéRinger tournament and goes up against Paul in the finals. (DP118)
- After caring for her injured Mamoswine, Dawn manages to earn Mamoswine's obedience. (DP119)
- Ash defeats Candice in a gym battle. (DP127)
- Pyramid King Brandon arrives in Snowpoint City to visit the nearby temple. (DP128)
- Paul challenges Brandon after hearing Ash defeated him. Brandon defeats all of Paul's team without losing a single Pokémon. Reggie suggests a battle between Paul and Ash in a couple days time.
- Pokémon Hunter J attacks the Snowpoint Temple and awakens the Regigigas there. In the aftermath, Regigigas is resealed and Brandon leaves his Regi trio behind to protect it. (DP129)
- While heading to Lake Acuity by train, Ash and friends meet Looker, not knowing he's an investigator going after Team Galactic. (DP130)
- At Lake Acuity, Ash and Paul have their first full battle. (DP131-DP132)
- Ash and friends come upon Saturn and Charon searching for Spear Pillar. They meet Looker again and learn he's with the International Police. (DP136)
- Ash and friends head for Twinleaf Town for the Twinleaf Festival. (DP138)
- As part of the festival, Ash and friends, along with Barry, battle for the right to challenge Barry's father, Tower Tycoon Palmer. Ash wins the tournament but loses against Palmer. (DP141)
- At the Johto Festa, Dawn receives from Kotone a Pokémon egg which later hatches into a Cyndaquil. (DP143)
