Leer (Japanese: にらみつける Sudden Glare) is a non-damaging Template:Type2 move introduced in Generation I.

Effect

Leer decreases the opponent's Defense by 1 level.

Leer will do nothing if the opponent's defense has reached a level of -6 or a value of 1, and will fail if the opponent has a Substitute or is under the effect of Mist. The effect of Leer is ignored by critical hits.
