Release information
This card was included in the XY expansion, first released in the Japanese Collection X. In Japan, it was reprinted as a Mirror Holofoil XY-P Promotional card, made available as part of a twelve card promotional pack awarded to those who participated in the Pokémon Card Gym tournaments from the month of February 2014 through the month of April 2014. This print features the Card Gym logo.
The XY print were subsequently reprinted in the Japanese M Charizard-EX Mega Battle Deck, Hyper Metal Chain Deck (later released as part of the English Phantom Forces expansion), Super Legend Set: Xerneas-EX & Yveltal-EX, M Rayquaza-EX Mega Battle Deck, M Master Deck Build Box Power Style, M Master Deck Build Box Speed Style, and Golduck BREAK + Palkia-EX Combo Deck. It was reprinted again in the English BREAKpoint expansion, in the Japanese BREAK Starter Pack, and in the simultaneously released Japanese Zygarde-EX Perfect Battle Deck and M Audino-EX Mega Battle Decks. Another Mirror Holofoil print was included in the Japanese Premium Champion Pack. - This card's effect matches that of Professor Oak; however, as Professor Oak is not a Supporter card, it can be played more than once per turn.
- This card's effect is identical to Professor Juniper. Because of this, it was ruled that while both cards are in the same format, only Professor Juniper or Professor Sycamore can be included in the same deck, not both. This ruling later included Professor's Research.
Origin
Professor Sycamore is the resident Pokémon Professor of the Kalos region. The interior of the Sycamore Pokémon Lab is featured in the XY print's illustration.
