6 links Saffron City and Vermilion City, and connects to 5 via the Underground Path. The area has six Trainers total, but only the last two are unavoidable. The wild Pokémon here are all the same as on Route 5, though Poliwag GoldeenPsyduck Slowpoke will be available later with the right fishing rod.
3 is a grassy road that leads east from Pewter City into the mountains around 4. Many Trainers can be found along the way as they raise their Pokémon for the upcoming cave.

The Magikarp Salesman
A Pokémon Center stands near the entrance to Mt. Moon. Inside, a shady man offers to sell you a Magikarp for pdollar500. The fish is nearly useless until it evolves into the powerful Gyarados at level 20. With enough money to spare, you can end up with a strong Water Pokémon sooner than normal, but you can soon hook a Magikarp for free with the right fishing rod.

Vermilion City is a major port city, and the harbor is always busy. The Vermilion Gym is blocked off by a small tree, so it is impossible to challenge the Gym Leader just yet. The luxury cruise liner S.S. Anne visits the city once per year, and has just docked in the harbor.

Requesting a Rematch
Mt. Moon
Stop by the Pokémon Center and talk to the girl near the counter. She gives the III, a rechargeable device that attracts the attention of any nearby Trainers who would like a rematch. The battery is charged while traveling, and will reach full capacity after taking 100 steps. The device cannot be used in buildings or caves.

Fishing Guru 1
Visit the house to the west of the Pokémon Center and talk to the fisherman inside. Convince him that loves fishing as much as he does to receive the III. The only fish that can be caught with it is Magikarp, but at least they can be found for free now. The III and III are better, but cannot be obtained until later.

Pokémon Fan Club
The building just north of the Vermilion Gym is the Pokémon Fan Club. Listen to the Chairman's rambling thoughts to receive a III. This can be exchanged at the Bike Shop in Cerulean to finally get a III.

Time For a Trade
A little girl in the house next to the Fan Club would like to trade. She is hoping to receive a Spearow in exchange for her Farfetch'd. This is the only one of its kind, and though it may not be the best choice in battle, it can learn two Cut Fly to help navigate the countryside.

Vermilion Harbor
Mt. Moon is a mystical mountain that is known for its frequent meteor falls. The shards of stars that fall here are known as Moon Stones. There are many Trainers exploring the tunnels inside. Many cave-dwelling Pokémon, like Zubat and Paras, make their home here.
S.S. Anne
The S.S. Anne caters to the world's best Pokémon Trainers, so expect some heavy battling onboard.

Check the second cabin from the left to find 31, then follow the hallway to the right and go down the stairs.
Collect 09 and the Parlyz Heal to the west, then follow the tunnel eastward and climb down the first ladder.

B1F
B2F (South)
This part of the ship is a dead-end hallway with five cabins. Check the far-right cabin for a Potion, and the center cabin for an Ether. The second cabin from the left has 44, and a hidden Potion lies in the trash can near the stairs.
Battle the Team Rocket Grunt, then grab the Star Piece from the raised platform and take the ladder back to 1F.

1F
1F
Follow the hallway to the front of the ship, then turn left to reach the galley. Check the three trash cans on the right side of the room to find a Pecha Berry, a Cheri Berry, and a Chesto Berry, then collect the Great in the corner. Leave the galley and climb up the nearby stairs.
Go south to battle the next two Trainers. Be sure to collect the Potion, Rare Candy, and Escape Rope. Head north then west and climb down the second ladder.

2F
B2F (Northeast)
To the south is another set of stairs; this one leads to the deck of the ship, where two Sailors are waiting to battle. Step inside the second cabin from the left for a Valuable item, and the fourth cabin from the left for an Battle item. reaches the Captain's quarters at the back of the ship just as Blue is leaving.
Fight the second Team Rocket Grunt and pick up 46 from the platform. Inspect the large rock to find a hidden Ether before returning to 1F.

Rival battle 4
1F
His Pidgeotto is not much of a threat, even though it is only one level lower than his starter Pokémon. Conversely, his newly-evolved Raticate has an improved Attack stat, allowing it to deal serious damage with Hyper Fang. Its Tail Whip lowers the foe's Defense, making Hyper Fang even more painful. Moves from Bug Ghost Dark will inflict major damage on Kadabra, and its low Defense also leaves it vulnerable to physical attacks. His starter Pokémon has recently evolved as well; use a Pokémon with a type advantage for best results.
Continue westward along the tunnel. Grab the Moon Stone in the northwest corner, then take the third ladder to the lower floor.

Even though he lost, he taunts again before running off. Enter the Captain's quarters to find him hunched over a trash can; it looks like he got seasick. Talk to him to give him a quick backrub, which is all it takes to settle his stomach. He rewards with 01. This moves makes it possible to chop down thin trees to reach new areas! Be sure to collect all the items, as the ferry glides out of the harbor when disembarks. Use HM01 to teach Cut to Bulbasaur or Charmander, and set out for the Gym.

The Vermilion Gym specializes in Electric Pokémon. Ground Pokémon like Geodude and Diglett are immune to electrical attacks, and can inflict serious damage with their Ground-type attacks. Avoid using Water- and Flying Pokémon. Lt. Surge forces his challengers to flip two switches hidden randomly in the trash cans to reach him. The second switch is always located right next to the first one. If the second switch is not flipped, the trap resets. This is the Bulbapedia walkthrough for Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen.
These pages follow the remade Game Boy Advance iteration, not Pokémon Red and Blue. The guide for those games can be found here.

Route 3

Route 3

Route 3 is a grassy road that leads east from Pewter City into the mountains around Route 4. Many Trainers can be found along the way as they raise their Pokémon for the upcoming cave.

Route 4 (West)

The Magikarp Salesman

A Pokémon Center stands near the entrance to Mt. Moon. Inside, a shady man offers to sell you a Magikarp for $500. The fish is nearly useless until it evolves into the powerful Gyarados at level 20. With enough money to spare, you can end up with a strong Water-type Pokémon sooner than normal, but you can soon hook a Magikarp for free with the right fishing rod.

Mt. Moon

Mt. Moon, 1F
Mt. Moon, B1F
Mt. Moon, B2F

Mt. Moon is a mystical mountain that is known for its frequent meteor falls. The shards of stars that fall here are known as Moon Stones. There are many Trainers exploring the tunnels inside. Many cave-dwelling Pokémon, like Zubat and Paras, make their home here.

1F

Collect TM09 (Bullet Seed) and the Parlyz Heal to the west, then follow the tunnel eastward and climb down the first ladder.

B2F (South)

Battle the Team Rocket Grunt, then grab the Star Piece from the raised platform and take the ladder back to 1F.

1F

Go south to battle the next two Trainers. Be sure to collect the Potion, Rare Candy, and Escape Rope. Head north then west and climb down the second ladder.

B2F (Northeast)

Fight the second Team Rocket Grunt and pick up TM46 (Thief) from the platform. Inspect the large rock to find a hidden Ether before returning to 1F.

1F

Continue westward along the tunnel. Grab the Moon Stone in the northwest corner, then take the third ladder to the lower floor.

B2F (Outer Area)

Follow the winding tunnel in a clockwise direction to the northwest, where Super Nerd Miguel claims both the Dome Fossil and Helix Fossil lying here as his own. Defeat him, and he lets you choose one of them for yourself. The Dome Fossil was once a Kabuto, while the Helix Fossil was once an Omanyte. Continue on to reach an Antidote and climb the final ladder to reach the exit.

Route 4 (East)

Route 4

Route 4 is a one-way road leading downhill from the mountains to Cerulean City.

Move Tutors

Two Black Belts can be found training on the western hill. These men happen to be Move Tutors, people who are able to teach their respective move to a compatible Pokémon. The man on the left teaches Mega Punch, while the man on the right teaches Mega Kick. Like other Move Tutors, their service may only be used once.
