Debonaire Dragonair or VS. Dragonair (Japanese: VSハクリュー VS. Hakuryu) is the 123th round of the Gold, Silver & Crystal arc in the Pokémon Adventures manga.
Plot
The evening after Crys starts looking for Suicune, the same Pokémon appears in Blackthorn. It is thinking of the Gym Leaders.
At the Blackthorn Gym, Clair is battling her apprentice Ryu. He is using a Seadra and she is using her Kingdra. Seadra uses Twister, then SmokeScreen. Clair switches out Kingdra for her Dragonair and it uses Safeguard, protecting itself. Then it uses DragonBreath, knocking out Seadra and defeating Ryu. He mentions that she is the Gym Leader of Blackthorn City and the grandchild of the leader of the clan. He also mentions that she once lost to her brother Lance. She lashes out at him and heads off to the Dragon's Den.
At the Den, she calls out to the Dragon Pokémon to battle with her. Three Dragonite and three Gyarados rise out of the water but do not attack. Instead, the make way for Clair peacefully. Suicune appears and attacks. Clair jumps onto Dragonair's head. Dragonair blocks Suicune's attack with its tail, but one of the crystal balls on its tail shatters. Suicune jumps behind Clair and creates mist. Clair, seeing a silhouette, has Dragonair use DragonBreath on it. Suicune jumps out of the way, and the sound it makes makes Clair think its body is made of crystal. She then throws a Great Ball at it, but the Great Ball bounces off. Clair sees the block of ice she attacked. She turns around and sees Suicune, who promptly uses BubbleBeam, defeating Clair. It then leaves.
Clair's grandfather and the chief appear. Clair's grandfather talks in a language that only the chief can understand.
"Hmmahmhm, hmma." (You fought a Suicune.) "It's one of the legendary Pokémon of the Burned Tower. It has awakened at last and, as the prophecy foretold, set out upon its journey to places unknown." "Mahha hamma hamma." (It is said that Suicune tests Pokémon Trainers it deems worthy of the challenge.)
Clair wonders if Suicune is searching for a Trainer.
