Welcome

Welcome to Bulbapedia, Darthrai!

As a new user, you may wish to learn a few things that will be useful in your editing:

  • For a basic overview of wiki code, see this page.
  • Read over the style primer before making your edits. It is a basic outline of Bulbapedia style. For a more in-depth set of rules, see the manual of style.
  • Keep an eye on the Messages from the Editor on the main page, to stay informed on current events on Bulbapedia.
  • The word Pokémon is spelled with a capital P and an accented é. The é can be accessed by holding Alt and typing either 130 or 0233 on a Windows computer, and by using Option + e, then e again on a Mac. Otherwise, you can easily click it in the character palette below the editbox.
  • The word Poké Ball is spelled as two words. The "Poké" part is identical to the four beginning letters in "Pokémon"; "Ball" is spelled with a capital B. The spelling "Pokéball" arises frequently, but is incorrect.
  • The word "you" and all forms of it should not be used on encyclopedic pages unless it is a quote from Pokémon or other media. Bulbapedia is an encyclopedia, not a walkthrough.
  • On talk pages, please sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
  • The use of link templates is official policy.
  • If you happen to spot a vandal in the recent changes that has not been dealt with, please see this page for how to deal with it.
  • A list of pages that are linked to, but have not been created, can be found at this page. A list of short articles that may require more information can be found here, while a list of articles that need improvement can be found here.
  • For a future capture, release, trade, or evolution of a Pokémon belonging to a main character of the anime, please do not create or move the page to reflect your suspicions, even if they are shared by many others. Policy here is to wait until the episode in which the event happens takes place is aired, unless there is substantial evidence for the suspicion (such as Brock's Happiny being held in his arms).
  • Image uploading is done on Bulbagarden Archives, a separate wiki accessible through the toolbox in the sidebar. This is done so that both Bulbapedia and Bulbanews have access to the images uploaded. To activate your account at the Archives and Bulbanews, please login there using the same username and password you use here on Bulbapedia.
  • If you want to make a page about a character you made up, please create it at User:Darthrai/(name), not merely (name). Bulbapedia's main namespace is reserved for actual, official Pokémon, items, characters, and locations. Also, please try to make sure that subpages are not categorized by templates used within.
  • Having said this, please make sure that you do contribute adequately to the main namespace. Bulbapedia is not MySpace or Facebook.
  • A list of administrators that you can contact in case of a problem can be found here.

Thank you, and have a good time editing here! --☆Coolピカチュウ! 02:10, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

Link templates

Hey there! Looks like you registered awhile ago, glad you started editing. However, it looks like you failed to use link templates in your most recent edits. Link templates are handy coding devices that we use to link directly to certain articles, skipping disambigs or redirects. An example of a link template that you'll find quite useful is typing {{p|Entei}} instead of just [[Entei]]. Try reading this. It will help you out a lot. Thanks. --P o L i 20:43, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

Canadian French names

Are you checking [1] for these? Because it's showing all the same names as France for me. D: --ZestyCactus 20:56, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

That is so confusing! :S I know sometimes the little blurb under a Google result can get kind of outdated/isn't necessarily correct... so maybe they thought about a seperate translation then changed their minds? --ZestyCactus 21:09, 4 January 2011 (UTC)
Maybe we'll hold out on mentioning anything until we know for sure. Thanks for bringing it to my attention, though. :) --ZestyCactus 21:11, 4 January 2011 (UTC)
I was really surprised that they used France's translation of HGSS for the same reason - I figured everyone was familiar with the English names from the anime and various toys and such. (though the TCG cards also came from France with the French names, making it even more confusing XD). I'm really curious to see what happens this time though, considering the DSi. Aren't regular DS games still region-unlocked, though? --ZestyCactus 21:18, 4 January 2011 (UTC)
Hi sorry to bother you again! Where did you find out about HGSS being released in Latin America? --ZestyCactus 08:46, 5 January 2011 (UTC)
Okay thats cool thanks :) I wasn't surprised because if they're doing a French release for Québec, then a Spanish release for Latin America makes sense as well. I also asked a friend in Mexico and she says she can help confirm it as well. Thanks for all your help :) P.S. Yep lived here my whole life, I love Toronto ^o^ --ZestyCactus 00:38, 6 January 2011 (UTC)

The Preview Button

Instead of editing a page several times in a row, try using the preview button to make sure your edit looks the way you want it to. It's right next to the Save Changes button... Please try it out, so as not to clog up the Recent Changes. Thanks! ----Pokemaster97 18:35, 22 June 2011 (UTC)

Another reminder to use the preview button. You just edited one page about 6 times. Please use this helpful tools so we don't clog up the server. Thanks --Pokemaster97 19:59, 2 September 2011 (UTC)

Signature moves

The signature moves of Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise are and will always be SolarBeam, Flamethrower, and Hydro Pump, respectively, since those are the moves they are always depicted using in most Pokémon media. Furthermore, the elemental Hyper Beams didn't exist prior to Gen III, so it is technically wrong to call those their signature moves. Andros 1337 05:26, 8 August 2011 (UTC)

  • Actually, the signature move page itself describes a signature move as a move that can only be learned by one species of Pokémon, etc. Prior to XD, the elemental Hyper Beams could only be learned by the Kanto starters, which is why I added them as former signature moves. As for them not existing prior to Gen III, Psystrike is Mewtwo's signature move, yet it was introduced in Generation V. Make sense? Darthrai 04:33, 9 August 2011 (UTC)

Blocked

Alright, another long overdue message, I apologize to you too. Maybe you didn't mean it, but what you did there is called an edit war, and they are frowned upon in every wiki. For that to happen, at least two parties must engage in a reversion tango, A reverts B, B retaliates by reverting A's revertion, and so on at least three times (example), after of which the page gets protected and both parties are blocked for a number of days depending on the amount of reversions, in this case, a full week. These disputes are better resolved in the talk page (and when I say this, I mean that you should wait until you can reach an agreement with the "offending" party so you can peacefully edit, successfully avoiding a war). I hope you can take this week as a minor stepback if you're serious as a Bulbapedia editor and take some time off to either cool down, or read the policies so you have a better grasp of Bulbapedia's functionality as a wiki and avoid further problems. Thank you and have a good day. Masatoshitalk 05:33, 30 January 2012 (UTC)

Re: Mention of King Ghidorah?

This is kinda a "way-over-a-month-late" response to the "Mention of King Ghidorah?" topic you made. But to quote a part of his origin section about Ken Sugimori ideas when designing it, "Hydreigon was drawn with a fewer number of heads in order to appear less confusing." So my guess is, while it might have helped inspire the design, it wasn't the actual intent that it had three heads because of King Ghidorah. So basically, despite the daikaiju's "popularity" in Japan or even the fact that in GMK it was supposed to be an immature Orochi, I think it is more of a coincidence that they both have three heads and personally don't think it needs to be mentioned. ----NateVirus(Talk|Contributions) 19:47, 18 June 2013 (UTC)

Preview button again

Your third warning to use the preview button (although to be fair, the last one was in 2011). Still, while minor corrections are allowed, please don't edit a page 5 times in a row. ☼ BlazingFist ☼ 18:24, 29 September 2014 (UTC)
