There are many Pokémon e-Reader applications available through the use of the e-Reader peripheral for the Game Boy Advance and by scanning certain cards from the Pokémon Trading Card Game to either view a small scene, play a minigame, or transfer new content into compatible Generation III games.

Expedition Base Set

Diving Corsola

Diving Corsola

Diving Corsola (Japanese: もぐれサニーゴ Dive Sunnygo) is a minigame featuring Corsola. Only two cards are required for the Diving Corsola application: Corsola and Qwilfish.

In Diving Corsola, the player takes on the role of a Corsola. The objective of the game is to guide Corsola to the seafloor without losing all of its oxygen. Touching a Tentacool or Qwilfish will rapidly deplete Corsola's oxygen level, which can be replenished by touching floating bubbles. The game is over when Corsola runs out of oxygen.

Flower Power

Flower Power (Japanese: あつめてバタフリー Gather Them, Butterfree) is a minigame featuring Butterfree. Three cards are required to play Flower Power: Caterpie, Metapod and Butterfree.

In Flower Power, the player takes on the role of a Butterfree. The objective of the game is to touch as many flowers as possible while flying on a side-scrolling screen. The game is over if Butterfree touches a Beedrill, Koffing, or Rattata blocking its path. The e-Reader will save a player's high score, even after the game has been turned off.

Flying Journey

Flying Journey (Japanese: カイリューのせかい?しゅう Kairyu's ?-times Around The World) is a short cartoon featuring Dragonite. Only one card is required for the Flying Journey application: the non-holo version of Dragonite.

In Flying Journey, Dragonite is seen flying over the sea, fields, and sky. When it returns to its starting point, the game will tell the player how many times Dragonite flew around the world. This number increases based on the number of times the card is scanned.

Pokémon that can appear are Spearow, Pidgeot, and Aerodactyl.

GO, Poliwrath!

GO, Poliwrath!

GO, Poliwrath! (Japanese: およげ! ニョロボン Swim! Nyorobon) is a minigame featuring Poliwrath. Six cards are required to play GO, Poliwrath!: Poliwrath, Poliwhirl, Krabby, Marill, Poliwag, and Shellder.

In GO, Poliwrath!, the player takes on the role of a Poliwrath. The objective of the game is to win a race against a Marill and a Golduck with the fastest time possible. The player loses the game if Marill or Golduck finishes the race before Poliwrath does.

Gotcha!

Gotcha! (Japanese: ルージュラのまなざし Rougela's Gaze) is a short cartoon featuring Jynx. Only one card is required for the Gotcha! application: Jynx.

There are two different versions of Gotcha!. After the card is scanned, Version 1 will play, and when the application is replayed, Version 2 will be played. If the application is replayed subsequent times, this order will be repeated.

Version 1

A Pikachu is chasing a Smoochum, but bumps into Jynx accidentally. Jynx then gives Pikachu a big wet kiss and lip marks appear on the screen.

Version 2

A Smoochum is being chased by an Elekid. Elekid sees Jynx nearby and tries to run away, but Jynx uses Mean Look to prevent it from escaping. Jynx walks over to the trapped Elekid and gives it a big wet kiss, causing lip marks to appear on the screen.

Here Comes Gloom (Japanese: あれ? クサイハナ Huh? Kusaihana or Huh? A Stinky Flower) is a short cartoon featuring Gloom. Only two cards are required for the Here Comes Gloom application: Oddish and Gloom.

There are two different versions of Here Comes Gloom. After the card is scanned, Version 1 will play, and when the application is replayed, Version 2 will be played. If the application is replayed subsequent times, this order will be repeated.

Version 1

Gloom is seen walking through the forest. It unleashes a stench from its flower. Suddenly, many Beedrill and Butterfree fall out of the tree, dazed by the bad smell. The game will then count how many Pokémon fell out of the tree.

Version 2

Gloom is seen walking through the forest. It unleashes a stench from its flower. Suddenly, many Beedrill and Butterfree fall out of the tree, dazed by the bad smell. One of them will hit Gloom on the head, knocking it out as well.

Hold Down Hoppip

Hold Down Hoppip (Japanese: ハネッコをとばすな Don't Let Hanecco Float Away) is a minigame featuring Pichu. Only two cards are required to play the Hold Down Hoppip application: Pichu and Hoppip.

In Hold Down Hoppip, the player takes on the role of a Pichu. As the title implies, the objective of the game is to keep five Hoppip from floating away. The Hoppip are tied down with ropes but are floating away anyways, so the player has to run around and pull on the ropes to keep the Hoppip from disappearing. The Hoppip float away faster as time progresses, and the game is over when a Hoppip floats off the screen. The e-Reader will record a player's high scores for later reference.

Kingler's Day

Kingler's Day (Japanese: おおもうけキングラー Kingler's Big Catch) is a minigame featuring Kingler. Four cards are required to play the Kingler's Day application: Cloyster, Kingler, Goldeen, and Magikarp

In Kingler's Day, the player takes on the role of a Kingler. The objective of the game is to capture as many Goldeen and Magikarp in the pond as possible within two minutes. There are Cloyster in the pond as well, but attempting to capture one will stun Kingler for a few seconds. The game ends when the clock reaches 0:00. Kingler's Day is not a game that is won or lost; instead, it is a game where the player attempts to get the highest score that they possibly can.

The music for this game is composed by Junichi Masuda.

Lifesaver (Japanese: ありがとうカイリュー) is a short cartoon starring Dragonite. Only two cards are required for the Lifesaver application: Dratini and Dragonair.

There are two different versions of Lifesaver. After the card is scanned, Version 1 will play, and when the application is replayed, Version 2 will be played. If the application is replayed subsequent times, this order will be repeated.

Version 1

Dragonite is flying across the skyline of a big city and then over a big field with windmills. It notices a Pikachu drowning in the water, so it flies down, grabs Pikachu, and brings it to safety on dry land. Pikachu thanks Dragonite and it flies away.

Version 2

Dragonite is flying across the skyline of a big city and then over a big field with windmills. It notices a Pikachu drowning in the water, so it flies down and grabs Pikachu. As Dragonite is lifting Pikachu, it discovers that a Magikarp is holding on to its tail. Slowly a chain of Pokémon is revealed: first Pikachu and Magikarp, then a Marill, a Goldeen and finally a Wobbuffet, all hanging on to each other.

Machop At Work (Japanese: ワンリキーのしゅぎょう Wanriky's Training) is a minigame featuring Machop. The cards required to play Machop At Work are Machop, Machoke, and Machamp. The cards required for Machop At Work were among the games included with the purchase of an e-Reader.

In Machop At Work, the player fills the role of a Machop whose job is to crush falling rocks. The objective of the game is to smash all 100 of the falling rocks without getting hit by one. If the player is hit by a rock, the game is over. Missing a rock does not cause a penalty, it will just bounce away and come back from the other side.

If the player smashes 50-99 rocks, the Machop evolves into Machoke at the end. If the player manages to smash all 100 rocks, the Machop evolves into Machoke, and then again into Machamp.

Magby and Magmar

Magby and Magmar

Magby and Magmar (Japanese: ブビィとブーバー Buby and Boober) is a short cartoon starring the title characters, Magby and Magmar. Fittingly, the only cards that are required for the application are Magby and Magmar.

In Magby and Magmar, the title characters are seen dueling each other with Flamethrower attacks. Suddenly, Articuno appears and freezes both of them in blocks of ice, but the two fire Pokémon simply melt the ice with Flamethrower and continue to attack each other anyway.

Make A Dash!

Make A Dash

Make A Dash! (Japanese: かけぬけろ!ギャロップ Ride on, Gallop!) is a short cartoon starring Rapidash. Only one card is required for the Make A Dash! application: Rapidash.

In Make A Dash!, a Rapidash is shown running briskly across a field. When it reaches a post, the game will show how fast Rapidash's "MAX Speed" was. The MAX Speed of Rapidash changes every time the application is scanned into the e-Reader.

Metronome

Metronome (Japanese: ゆびをふるピッピ Pippi Wags Its Finger) is a short cartoon featuring Clefairy. Only two cards are required for the Metronome application: Clefairy and Clefable.

There are three different versions of Metronome. After the card is scanned, Version 1 will play, and when the application is replayed, Version 2 will be played. If the application is replayed subsequent times, Version 3 will play.

Version 1

Charizard is shown flying across a bright blue sky. The scene pans downwards to show a Clefairy. Clefairy uses the move Metronome. There is a bright flash, and the day turns into night. A Haunter appears and chases Clefairy away.

Version 2

Charizard is shown flying across a bright blue sky. The scene pans downwards to show a Clefairy. Clefairy uses the move Metronome, which turns into the move Explosion. Clefairy blows itself up and is shown afterwards, charred and burned. A Meowth then walks across the screen.

Version 3

Charizard is shown flying across a bright blue sky. The scene pans downwards to show a Clefairy. Clefairy uses the move Metronome. There is a bright flash, and the day turns to night. Clefairy evolves into Clefable. A Clefairy walks in from each side to stand next to Clefable.

Sweet Scent

Sweet Scent (Japanese: あまいかおりにさそわれて Lured by a Sweet Scent) is a short cartoon featuring Vileplume. Only one card is required for the Sweet Scent application: the non-holo version of Vileplume.

There are two different versions of Sweet Scent. After the card is scanned, Version 1 will play, and when the application is replayed, Version 2 will be played. If the application is replayed subsequent times, this order will be repeated.

Version 1

Vileplume is seen walking in the forest alone. It then uses the move Sweet Scent. Afterwards, a swarm of Beedrill will fly by, buzzing loudly. Then, Vileplume will be left alone again, feeling sad.

Version 2

Vileplume is seen walking in the forest alone. It then uses the move Sweet Scent. Afterwards, two Diglett and a Dugtrio appear from under the ground and stay with Vileplume. Happy music is played.
