If Ash and co. met Lucian...

If Ash and co. met Lucian, it was likely they'll meet Cynthia later in the anime. And I was right, because Cynthia is scheduled to make her first anime appearance in DP040! - unsigned comment from FREAKAZOID (talkcontribs)

Quotes

In the quotes section, it says:

Before battle:
"One look at you tells me many things about you. Together, you and your Pokémon overcame all the challenges you faced, however difficult. It means that you've triumphed over any personal weaknesses, too. The power you learned... I can feel it emanating from you. That's enough talking. Let's get on with why you're here. I, Cynthia, accept your challenge as the Pokémon League Champion! There won't be any letup from me!"

OR

"Have you been keeping well? Thank you for Mt. Coronet. I'm truly grateful. Together, you and your Pokémon overcame all the challenges you faced, however difficult. It means that you've triumphed over any personal weaknesses, too. The power you learned... I can feel it emanating from you. But that's enough talk. Let's get on with why you're here. As the Pokémon League Champion, I accept your challenge!"

What do they mean, "OR"? Doesn't she always say the same thing? --Shiny NoctowlTalk | Contribs 21:57, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

Cynthia also looks like the character(dont know her name) who trasform's in this video:

lucario

Does anybody else think those things in her hair look like the thing on lucario's head.I think this could mean that lucario is her main pokémon in the games (and possibly anime but not sure) User:Darkmaster0

I always thought the things in her hair resembled a Garchomp....--Theryguy512 11:13, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
It does look more like Lucario's hair-type-thing, but her Garchomp is her strongest pokémon and they ,usually, are the trainer's signature pokémon. Phocks.

Chi

Chi and Fei are identical twins and Chi is the main chatterer, so way dos she look like Fei and not Chi? Cerberus 12:53, 18 June 2008 (UTC)

I agree. It's like "Oooh! One anime character looks like another! We should put that in!!" It's not all that notable. ~$aturn¥oshi THE VOICES 13:56, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

I think this one is notable if any of them are. The have the same eyes, the same face. Clair even has hair things that look like Chi's ear's. If you ask me this one is intentional Cerberus 14:41, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

I assume we're referring to Chobits here. Anyway, I did think Cynthia looked a bit like a Persicom on first impression, and her very long hair and black clothes are reminiscent of Freya, but I wouldn't say this is particularly relevant to Bulbapedia. Punkrockrevel 16:58, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

Dream Rayquaza (Please don't ignore this)

If we include her Rayquaza, shouldn't we include the Piplup, Chimchar, and Turtwig from Dawn's DP001 dream? If you agree with me, please make the table, cuz remember, I don't know how!--KukiTalk 20:20, 4 July 2008 (UTC)

That was more of Dawn daydreaming that she had those Pokémon. Plus, it wasn't appearant to the characters at first that they were dreaming when Cynthia had a Rayquaza. I don't know, maybe Rayquaza shouldn't count... ~$aturn¥oshi THE VOICES 20:26, 4 July 2008 (UTC)

No he didn't... He was watching that on T.V. the night before he left on his journey. --ケンジガール 23:22, 4 July 2008 (UTC)

But the Kanto starters in the dream manifested themselves into reality. And what about May commanding Mudkip in AG001?--KukiTalk 23:28, 4 July 2008 (UTC)

Yeah but that's not what I was talking about. You said he woke up to the battle of Nidorino and Gengar, which he didn't.
Back to the subject about dream Pokémon, just because Ash got all the starters he dreamed about doesn't mean that everyone gonna get the Pokémon they've dreamed about. These stupid dream Pokémon shouldn't even be mentioned. Especially not the ones in Dawn's dream. What about all those Pokémon that Meowth always dreams Giovanni has in his dreams. Are we gonna mentioned those now? --ケンジガール 23:34, 4 July 2008 (UTC)

Already have a page for that--KukiTalk 23:36, 4 July 2008 (UTC)

Well that's merely a section of the boss fanasy article. Doesn't mean that other people should have dream Pokémon mentioned. --ケンジガール 23:39, 4 July 2008 (UTC)

Color

Why is her table color white? It blends with the background. Wouldn't black/a shade of gray be better? tc26 02:00, 31 October 2008 (UTC)

Leiji Matsumoto

I know there's been a crackdown on speculative trivia, but I honestly think Cynthia's design is a reference to Galaxy Express 999. Seriously, look at the Maetel-bot in that entry and tell me she's not inspired by that. - Nekusagi (don't know how to link myself)

Done. She's not inspired by that. On a serious note, however, it's still speculation. Which isn't allowed on articles or something.--freezingCOLD (page, talk) 00:15, 16 January 2009 (UTC)
To compare a character to another one is an opinion, as well as speculation. Opinions are not shared by everyone so they don't belong in any article. Now, I already discussed this with Neku elsewhere so there needs to be no further inquiries about this. -Sketch 00:18, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

Egg

After running Team Galactic out of Eterna, Cynthia approaches the player near the Bicycle Shop to give him or her an Egg. I'd edit the article myself to reflect this, but I'm not sure what's in the egg -- or where in the article the information should go. Recalcitrancy 16:08, 24 March 2009 (UTC)

In the trivia...

The trivia states: Cynthia's team also has at least one attack that matches the type themes of every member of the Kanto, Johto, and Hoenn Elite Four plus three members of Sinnoh's Elite Four. Flint is the only member not represented as none of Cynthia's Pokémon have Fire-type attacks.

Cynthia has a Fire-type attack: Flamethrower. It's on Garchomp before National Pokedex. If what this is stating after the NP, then please ignore this. - unsigned comment from Nidolord500 (talkcontribs)

Pokédex

In Platinum, Cynthia tells the player character that she went on an adventure with a Pokédex when she was younger (she says this when you meet her in Celestic Town). This isn't mentioned on her page, and I think it is kind of important. Adam 148 09:31, 4 April 2009 (UTC)

You know every trainer begins with a Pokédex. If you dont agree then give me examples of trainers without Pokédex. --Prongs (TalkContributions) 09:36, 4 April 2009 (UTC)
"You've got a Pokedex!? Wow! Etcetera!" Also, Pearl doesn't have one, and Wally doesn't seem to either. The game dialogue at the start of each game makes it seem like its a big deal; hence the Professor gives it after the player has done a task for him, not with the Starter Pokemon. — THE TROM — 09:44, 4 April 2009 (UTC)
Dude about Pearl it is mentioned on his page and "doesnt seem to either" doesnt sounds convincing. Moreover as you administrators say "Wait till it is confirmes" although I dont think it will ever be . --Prongs (TalkContributions) 09:48, 4 April 2009 (UTC)

When exactly was the Pokédex invented anyway? Adam 148 09:52, 4 April 2009 (UTC)

Pearl didn't get one because he was in a rush. Wally because he started on his own, without a starter nor a Pokédex. Other Trainers because there to lazy to get themselves one. You only see the Main player and Rival get a PokéDex. And as for Trom and Prongs, Both of you need to stop being hostile to eachother.--FF(editstalk) 09:56, 4 April 2009 (UTC)

Seems like it yeah, I always think there's some kind of rivalry between you two. Meh nevermind. My thought got me wrong.--FF(editstalk) 10:38, 4 April 2009 (UTC)

Unless Cynthia is only thirteen years old (which she'd have to be to start out with a Pokédex [invented three years before Generation II and IV]) it's possible Cynthia started out with a forerunner/prototype of the Pokédex, such as the P*DA. But this is only speculation. Adam 148 11:15, 4 April 2009 (UTC)

Prof. Oak created the PokéDex way before Gen I. And you have to be 10 to be a Trainer.--FF(editstalk) 11:19, 4 April 2009 (UTC)--FF(editstalk) 11:19, 4 April 2009 (UTC)
Exactly my point, she started her adventure before D/P/Pt, and the Pokédex was created, let's say a year (not actual time), before Gen I, she'd have to have been 10 to start out on her adventure at this time if she'd had a Pokédex, and she looks older than fourteen. Adam 148 11:27, 4 April 2009 (UTC)
Of course. But yet this is speculation, I mean she could've started being a trainer late in her life.--FF(editstalk) 11:31, 4 April 2009 (UTC)
True... Adam 148 11:34, 4 April 2009 (UTC)
Actually in the games Oak says that he created it just a little time ago and many state that Cynthia is quite experienced. --Prongs (TalkContributions) 15:13, 4 April 2009 (UTC)
In fact, when you beats her the first time (in Platinum at least) and Rowan shows up, he states it has been a long time since he has been at the Hall of Fame, and Cynthia comments that if the last time he had been there was when she had become champion, then it was a long time ago. So she must have had her Pokédex for quite some time. Adam 148 10:25, 7 April 2009 (UTC)
Here's a tip: why don't we quote everything Cynthia said in DPPt? We do that on Cyrus's page. =] Kevzo8 11:07, 7 April 2009 (UTC)
Good plan Adam 148 18:32, 7 April 2009 (UTC)

3 years

In Cynthia's trivia section, there is a bullet saying "Although Cynthia mentions she started with a Pokédex, in Generation I (approximately three years before the events of Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum) Professor Oak mentions that it is his newest invention." How do we know that the events of Gold, Silver, and Crystal are happening at the same time as Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum? Jasmine is actually in Sinnoh during generation IV, so how could she be in Sinnoh and in Johto at her gym at the same time? --いぬみみ 19:17, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

The Red Gyarados happens after you beat Jasmine. It is highly possible that she goes to Sinnoh to recover after her loss; there is nothing to deny this. It could also happen shortly before she is faced by the player of GSC. While the two generations appear to happen within the same time frame, they don't appear to be concurrent. — THE TROM — 21:18, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

Platinum and Arceus reference

In Platinum, I specifically remember that if you went and checked the cave painting in the Celestic Ruins again after beating the Elite Four, Cynthia showed up and gave a big lecture on the dragon trio, lake trio, and speculation on Arceus. Somebody should go and check that, and put it in the quotes section. TorchicBlaziken (talkedits) 21:10, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

The Pokedex trivia

Could Cynthia just be a newish trainer? Lovely Rose 03:58, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

As mentioned earlier, Cynthia is said to be quite experienced. Also, both Cynthia and Prof. Rowan both state that it was some time since Rowan had been to the Hall of Fame, which means that Cynthia has been a trainer for quite some time. Adam 148 11:05, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

In two places at once

After defeating Cyrus for the last time, she's at the entrance to Turnback Cave and at the League. Did anyone else notice this? --Sting the Trainer 19:04, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

Unless you're also in two places at once, you can't verify that claim. She leaves the League a lot earlier in the game; chances are she's doing the same here. —darklordtrom 20:15, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
After accompanying the player to the Distortion World, she stands around outside the cave but isn't there after you complete the E4 challenge. Platinum has actual cases of Gym Leaders being in three places at once (Gym + Cafe + Villa) but this doesn't count. --FabuVinny |Talk Page| 20:22, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

First Timers

I was looking at the different Champions, and it's occured to me that Cynthia is the only one to be Champion in both the games and the anime. Blue was Champion in Gen. I & their remakes and is Ash's rival in the anime, Lance was Elite Four in Gen. I, but Champion in Gen.II. Steve and Wallace are not the Champions of Hoenn in the anime, and both where Champions in different games.--Spritemaster 20:12:20, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

Actually, the anime stated that Wallace is the Champion of the Hoenn League. --ケンジガール 20:17, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

Cynthia the only one to remain champion

Should it be mentioned in the Trivia section that Cynthia is the only Champion to remain Champion of her League in all games set in that region? Kanto/Johto Elite Four has had Blue, later replaced by Lance. Hoenn Elite Four has had Steven, later replaced by Wallace. But Sinnoh has only EVER had Cynthia as a Champion.

Though this might change come Black and White and their third version, do you think it's still worth a mention? Bttsstewart 03:00, 30 July 2010 (UTC)

Yes, it should be. Pokemon26 01:14, 2 August 2010.--Pokemon26 01:15, 3 August 2010 (UTC)

Actually, that isn't true. Red takes the champion title from Blue in Red, Blue, Yellow, Green, FireRed, or LeafGreen, and remains the true champion in Gold, Silver, Crystal, HeartGold, or SoulSilver. He just isn't fought in the league. And besides, every champion has lost the title; the player beats the champion in every game. Turtwig's A-B-Cs (talk | contribs) 01:18, 3 August 2010 (UTC)

Wait, so what was Lance then if not the Champion of the Indigo Plateau? Bttsstewart 14:01, 16 October 2010 (UTC)

Lance was the Johto Champion. Red is the Kanto Champion. You simply don't have to fight another Elite Four to battle Kanto's Champion.--Purimpopoie 14:28, 16 October 2010 (UTC)

Isshu House...

In Pokemon Platinum, Cynthia mentions about having a house, but where she said is a secret. Having a look at the Black/White games I realize there is a hosue with Cynthia in it. Any possible connections? I can't read other languages so if you can please find out if she claims it as her house.--Scepie 08:44, 7 October 2010 (UTC)

The villa of isshu is not a house of Cynthia. The villa that exists in Sazanami Town is belongings of Caitlin. Cynthia borrows the villa from Caitlin. Sawamular101 12:24, 20 October 2010 (UTC)

I believe it she only battles in certain season(s). --SnorlaxMonster 08:07, 27 October 2010 (UTC)

Cynthia's Pokémon's IVs

They are NOT 31, at least not in Platinum's rematch. I won't edit that piece of trivia, as I have no means of confirming her IVs in games other than that. My brother used a catch trainers' Pokemon cheat on a Pokemon from each E4 member. (Their "signature Pokemon" <Drapion/Rhyperior/Magmortar/Garchomp> and Lucian's Espeon) They APPEAR to be all 30. (EVERY E4 member's Pokemon, not just Cynthia's.) I ran their stats through an IV checker. For reference, I'll put their details down here (Order of HP/Attack/Defence/Special Attack/Special Defence/Speed): Aaron's Drapion: Lv. 69, Lonely - 196/163/159/108/129/156; Bertha's Rhyperior: Lv. 71, Lonely - 265/247/189/104/104/83; Flint's Magmortar: Lv. 73, Timid - 214/148/124/209/165/162; Lucian's Espeon: Lv. 71, Calm - 194/106/111/210/177/182; Cynthia's Garchomp: Lv. 78, Bold - 279/207/193/153/161/187.

Hometown

In the article it says "hometown=Celestic Town*" but I think in the games (Platinum, at least) it mentions that she is from Celestic Town or something like that and the Celestic Town article says "It is the hometown of Cynthia's family." so should we remove the part that says "Mentioned only in the anime"? Xxcom9a 14:28, 30 December 2010 (UTC)

I agree. The fact that she resides in an other region doesn't mean that she doesn't come from Celestic. --Maxim 14:32, 30 December 2010 (UTC)

Cynthia in Black/White, correction?

"Cynthia also makes an appearance in Pokémon Black and White. She can be battled in a house in Undella Town in the spring and summer."

This may be incorrect, since when I initially got to battle Cynthia after meeting her for the first time, it was Autumn. Sure enough, after I beat her and left, she was gone.

I think she can be battled anytime, but can only be re-battled in certain seasons. --Zoen 07:50, 12 April 2011 (UTC)

Also, when she can be re-battled, she can be beaten once a day. --Zoen 12:32, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
And as luck would have it, Summer comes and she doesn't want to battle any more. --Zoen 23:23, 1 June 2011 (UTC)

A better way to put it is that she's the lone Champion in the Sinnoh region. All other regions have at least two Champions. Even though I don't really think it's especially notable and if anything such trivia would go on the Champion page rather than here. Chicobo329 (talk) 22:38, 19 November 2012 (UTC)

The House Trivia

I added to the trivia page (on the trivia mentioning the "region is a secret" line) saying: "However, it is also possible that the location of her house is a secret entirely, even the region, as opposed to the region itself being the secret." But it was undone by Dennou Zenshi saying that it was obvious. In all honesty, I added it because I did not want it to be misunderstood as an indication that she lives in a region that is not currently revealed, which I think is a real possibility. I apologize if my edit seemed to be indicating something else. Pacack (talk) 23:17, 27 February 2013 (UTC) (edited because of grammatical error) Pacack (talk) 23:19, 27 February 2013 (UTC)

The main point of the piece of trivia that is currently in the page is that she might not live in Sinnoh. Anyone who reads the quote ("My house? Even the region is a secret!") understands that the location of her home is also a secret. But that is not the point so we don't have to mention it.--Den Zen 06:58, 28 February 2013 (UTC)
Well, I apologize if I worded it badly. Thanks for the response as well, and have a nice day. Pacack (talk) 16:19, 28 February 2013 (UTC)

Anime page

I really believe she is notable enough. As a recurring character, she had done several things in both the DP series and BW series, shouldn't she have her own separated anime page? --Gabo 2oo (talk) 20:05, 28 April 2013 (UTC)

I agree with you,her "In the anime" section is too big - - unsigned comment from Ishlishl (talkcontribs)

I am also for the split Diamond Lanturn CodeName: 05308 21:11, 17 August 2013 (UTC)
Good idea, despite she is not worthy to make a new page. But the size is much big. KyleRGiggs 04:08, 25 August 2013 (UTC)

Rematch/Easy Mode/Challenge Mode

Why doesn't this thing include the Rematch/Easy Mode/Challenge Mode info from Black 2 and White 2? --Det (talk) 10:39, 17 June 2013 (UTC)

Error in Trivia (Potentially)

The trivia states that "Cynthia is the only current Champion to appear in a Pokémon movie, discounting Gary Oak, the anime counterpart to Blue, and Iris, who is not a Champion in the anime." This wouldn't be true, if I'm not mistaken, as Alder appears in Best Wishes. Is he explicitly stated to be the Champion in the episodes he appears in? Mohacastle, such a pretty beast. 14:31, 16 December 2013 (UTC)

The trivia say in a movie. You just said that Alder is in the anime. Glik (talk) 14:38, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
It's still wrong. Alder makes a cameo in M16. Ataro (talk) 14:53, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
