Kowtow Cleave (Japanese: ドゲザン Kowtow Slash) is a damage-dealing Dark-type move introduced in Generation IX. It is the signature move of Kingambit.

Effect

Kowtow Cleave inflicts damage and bypasses accuracy checks to always hit, unless the target is in the semi-invulnerable turn of a move such as Dig or Fly. If used by a Pokémon with Sharpness, its power is increased by 50%.

Description

Games Description
SV The user slashes at the target after kowtowing to make the target let down its guard. This attack never misses.

Trivia

  • Kowtow Cleave is based on dogeza, which is kneeling to a person of higher status. The word "kowtow" more accurately refers to a Chinese act that is similar to dogeza.
