A Zygarde Core

A Zygarde Core (Japanese: ジガルデ・コア Zygarde Core) is a cell-like component of Zygarde with its own will. On their own, they have little power, but by gathering Cells, they can create Zygarde's different forms. They appear similar to their cells, having a flat, green, worm-like body with a bulbous head. They have a hexagon on their belly and back, while primarily red in color, they can also appear in other colors.

10% Forme Zygarde contains a single Core, which only allows it to function for a short time.[1] Complete Forme Zygarde contains five Cores, as can be seen when its chest opens, revealing red, orange, white, cyan, and blue Cores. Its wings and tail each have their own Core that can act independently.[2]

In the games

Zygarde Cores are stored in a Zygarde Cube and allow the Zygarde Cube to teach Zygarde moves.

In Pokémon Sun and Moon, five Zygarde Cores can be found around the Alola region, with each one unlocking a specific move, as seen below. Each Zygarde Core is found either an island kahuna's home, or the player's room. Outside of unlocking moves, Zygarde Cores act the same as Zygarde Cells, and will be counted towards the count of 100.

In Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, all five moves are already unlocked upon receiving the Zygarde Cube from Dexio.

In all games in which they appear, Zygarde Cores appear during the transformation sequence into Zygarde's Complete Forme when Power Construct activates.

Below is a list of locations in which Cores appear in Sun and Moon.

Location Core Move
Ancient Poni Path In the back of the bedroom in Hapu's house Core Enforcer
Iki Town On the porch in the northeastern room of Hala's house Thousand Arrows
Route 17 At the back of the Po Town Police Station Thousand Waves
Route 1 In the player's room, by the bed Extreme Speed
