Name Similarities to Illumise

Should it be noted that Lumiose City's French name, Illumis; is almost the same as Illumise? Yamitora1 (talk) 03:40, 20 May 2013 (UTC)

Pikachu

Minor speculation but i can't help but notice the pikachu in the picture. Either this is just because it's the franchise mascot or pokemon from gens 1 to 5 will be in Kalos unlike Unova's first two games. --Bomyne (talk) 11:43, 21 May 2013 (UTC)

We know that Zigzagoon (and Linoone) will be in the Kalos Pokédex. However, Pikachu might just make a cameo, like it did in Castelia City and like Shroomish did in Hearthome City.--Den Zen 11:57, 21 May 2013 (UTC)
In the announcement trailer back in Jan where Pikachu is on the tower, they mention that favorite old Pokémon would make an appearance, and they showed an encounter with a wild Pikachu.
Also, while this part is speculation on my own behalf; with the emphasis on light for this city, the tower's tip might light up. It is also likely, if it does light up, it does so possibly with the aid of a (Electric-Type) Pokémon much in the same way that the lighthouse in Olivine City (did I get the right city, been a long time since I played G&S.) Plus Pikachu was shown using its electricity on top of the tower in the announcement trailer. I wouldn't be surprise if a whole slew of Electric-Type Pokémon could be found in and near Lumiose City. But, we'll have to wait and see. Yamitora1 (talk) 21:18, 21 May 2013 (UTC)
Well it would go with the name (Luminose=Light=Electricity=Electric Pokemon). And yes Yamitora the city you are thinking of is Olivine City. Nuckles123 (talk) 21:33, 21 May 2013 (UTC)

Tourism

Why does this page sound like it has been taken from a travel book all of a sudden? Doesn't sound professional. Nuckles123 (talk) 00:20, 22 May 2013 (UTC)

I shortened and dulled it down. I don't see how it was Touristy. Also thanks ‎ArcToraphim for the fix. I keep forgetting to do that when linking Pokémon names to their articles. Yamitora1 (talk) 01:40, 22 May 2013 (UTC)
It sounded touristy to me because of the mention to shopping and fine dining but it reads more professional now. Also, for creating Pokemon templates, do {{p|Name of Pokemon} } <--(but without this extra space). Nuckles123 (talk) 02:21, 22 May 2013 (UTC)

Lumiose City Gym

In the 3rd Pokémon X and Y trailer, at 0:34, there is an image of the tower in the centre of the city. At the entrance of the tower is the same symbol that is in front of the Santalune City Gym, in the 2nd trailer, at 0:42. This symbol is the Gym symbol from Unova, so it is safe to assume that Lumiose City also has a Gym. From Kalos' map, Lumiose City is the 3rd Location to visit, after Vaniville and Santalune, so it could be the 2nd Gym, although it could act like Petalburg or Viridian and have the Gym challenged later on. Since Lumiose City is based on Paris, the City of Lights, then the Gym type could be Electric or Fairy (there probably will be some sort of Fairy Gym/Elite Four Member somewhere in Kalos), but this is very speculative. Xolotl (talk) 10:21, 30 June 2013 (UTC)

I too, noticed this in the trailer. The gym logo is also visible in a screenshot for Pokémon X and Y (I think there is a YouTube video pointing this out.), so I would think that it is fair to say that it is not just an animé variation. There have however been gyms in the animé that have not appeared in games such as those of the Orange Archipelago, and unofficial gyms, including a fake gym set up by Team Rocket, but I would think it unusual to have an unofficial gym in-game. Of course the typing of the gym is completely speculative, however, I think that the fact that there is a Lumiose Gym is pretty conclusive.--ShinyPatch (talk) 18:19, 1 September 2013 (UTC)
The odds are pretty high that it has an actual Gym, but I have to point out that it's not unprecedented to have an unofficial Gym in-game — see the Fighting Dojo in Saffron City. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 18:26, 1 September 2013 (UTC)

Korean name for Lumiose City

Its Korean name is 미스시티 Miseu Siti.

  • I suspect it's based on the English word "myth", although that would be transliterated as 미쓰. Alternatively, 미스 could be "Miss" (whether "female tiitle" or "opposite of hit"), but I have my doubts. I'll have to get back to this. -- Nick15 (talk) 23:01, 11 July 2013 (UTC)

Plants and Lights?

How come all of the other cities and towns in Kalos so far are named after plants, yet Lumiose city is named after Paris' nickname 'the city of lights'? Shouldn't it be added to the trivia that Lumiose city is the only one not named after a plant? Ziggyangelo88 (talk) 07:47, 11 August 2013 (UTC)

We don't know all the cities, so we don't know yet whether another will be not named after a plant. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 07:48, 11 August 2013 (UTC)

Prism Tower

It should be worth noted that the Eiffel-Tower like thing is called Prism Tower. Dinodestroyer (talk) 11:07, 20 September 2013 (UTC)

The second story of one of the north buildings

I went there and something... odd happened. Im not even sure what it was. A very strange NPC is all i can say without spoiling. You'd know it if you saw it. well whatever it was, its clearly worth mentioning. If anyone has a clue what this thing was or what it meant, that should probably be included in the article somewhere. I think it was the building with the Dojo/Dance school on top, with the 2nd floor totally empty. I can't be sure because it only happened the one time and there are no signs left behind.

So yeah. That. Anyone know what that was and can put it on the page? PowerPlantRaichu (talk) 03:07, 24 October 2013 (UTC)

No. You aren't the one. Yes, the dojo was on top. Given the servers and computers in the room, I surmise that it could be Game Freak, but the NPC makes me think event possibly. --TruePikachu (talk) 09:52, 23 December 2013 (UTC)

Looker Bureau

Can somebody put something explaining this? I would, but I do not have the time. It is after you go to Anistar City and receive the Mega Ring upgrade. I would appreciate it, and I will help where I can.--Darkmaster (talk) 03:40, 26 October 2013 (UTC) As I said, I would do it all, but I have neither the time or the experience to do it. - unsigned comment from Darkmaster (talkcontribs)

On the glitches thing shall we put about this ghost girl?

Apparently there's this ghost girl thing which people are talking about. Is this a glitch if so put it on the glitches. I'm not sure if it's a reference to Unova about that girl in the Strange House or just a glitch. If anyone does know can someone either add it in the glitches or make note of it in the trivia section?--Hydreigonfan1 (talk) 18:27, 27 October 2013 (UTC)

It's pretty clear to me that it's not a glitch. It's just supposed to be a creepy thing they put into the game. --It's Funktastic~!話してください 18:29, 27 October 2013 (UTC)
they put a ghost (or a few) in each game, so far i can remember DPP's house where u can find rotom, there's 2 ghosts there, also the girl in the bridge and in the abandoned house in BWB2B2 --Cabasho 10:06 11 November 2013 (-5 GMT)

Sushi High Roller requirements

Can anyone help verify the requirements to get into Sushi High Roller? I know the only requirement isn't being the Champion, but I know it is one since the NPC that lets you in mentions it. I know there is something else since after becoming Champion, I did a bunch of style stuff and the Looker side quests and got access after that. Someone updated it to say the Looker sidequests are the other prereq, but that seems weird to me. Don't those also increase your style by completing them? Unfortunately, I don't know for a fact if completing that was what gave me access or not. Linkmastr001 (talk) 21:39, 27 October 2013 (UTC)

Actually, I had a thought. One thing I did before doing this restaurant was participate in each of the other restaurants, perhaps that is the other requirement? Linkmastr001 (talk) 01:48, 28 October 2013 (UTC)

I did that and beat the Elite Four, anyone else had that experience? -EVsandIVsaurs 01:56, 28 October 2013 (UTC)

"The player needs to have become the Champion, completed the side quest, and have gotten his or her style up in the city."
So is this meant to refer to the Looker sidequests? Because "the side quest" is completely unclear and I have no idea what I'm supposed to do. --SnorlaxMonster 17:13, 20 November 2013 (UTC)

Stone Emporium

Does anyone know whether or not this shop gets more than just Leaf, Fire and Water Stones post game?--Tom (My Talk Page) 10:16, 28 October 2013 (UTC)

Doesn't seem to do so. I think that's it unless you get more for becoming a full celebrity in Lumiose. I'm getting close to that stage (Venusarite is only 70,000, once it gets to 10,000 I will know). ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 10:23, 28 October 2013 (UTC)

Sushi High Roller prize

Has anyone completed a course? If so, what did you get? Apparently it's Big Nuggets, but the quantities are still undetermined on Bulbapedia. -- Pringles 01:06, 8 November 2013 (UTC)

havent done it myself but the it says it is imposible to turn out profit from this restaurant... if the info presented here is correct, then its true, but the loss can be lowered to 191760 if using a double money item during the battles (such as an amulet coin). -- Cabasho 10:03 11 November 2013 (-5 GMT)

Wait... 30k * 25 = 750k; 750k->500k... so what. Uploader (talk) 17:55, 13 November 2013 (UTC)
Just checked on this, 30,000 for each Big Nugget and a perfect is 25 of them. You make profit since you get over $500,000 when selling... Not sure how you would be losing profit here. Anyone mind fixing up that trivia error? Frozen Fennec 04:11, 22 November 2013 (UTC)

Wrong. In X/Y, you can sell the Big Nuggets for only 10,000 (not 30,000 like in Gen V). Therefore, you do NOT make profit in Sushi High Roller. Here's my result, using Amulet Coin + Prize Money Power lv 2, Triple Battle course.

1,454,404 (my amount of money prior to selecting a course) -450,000 (entrance cost)

1,004,404 (my amount of money prior to battling) +18,720 +18,720 +18,720 +18,720 +41,600 +250,000 (10,000 x 25)

I ends up with 1,370,884 which means a loss. So yeah, no profit, at least with PMP lv 2. I haven't try PMP lv 3. But if even with Amulet Coin and PMP lv 2 I still get a loss, that clearly means without Amulet Coin and PMP, the loss will be even greater....and even if using PMP lv 3 lets us receive some profit, it's still bad, as you must use the strongest boost just to receive a small amount of profit. Sushi High Roller? More like Sushi High Troller.Magnezone (talk) 01:09, 24 November 2013 (UTC)

Then let me make a suggestion as to determine this, use Prize Money Power Level 3 + Luck Incense/Amulet Coin(Doesn't seem to stack) + Happy Hour. If that doesn't work, then we will need to say that the only way to make a profit is to use Pay Day to be able to make a profit. --Super goku (talk) 01:37, 24 November 2013 (UTC)
Extrapolating the results from your data.

-450,000 (entrance cost) + 56,160 (9,360 is assumed to be the amount with the Amulet Coin, *3 with PMP 3, *2 with Happy Hour) + 56,160 + 56,160 + 56,160 + 124,800 (20,800 is assumed to be the amount with the Amulet Coin, *3 with PMP 3, *2 with Happy Hour) + 250,000 (250,000 is the normal sell value of 25 Big Nuggets.) That means the balance should become a net gain of 149,440. --Super goku (talk) 18:44, 14 December 2013 (UTC)

Splitting up the article

Given the current size of the article, and that it's still marked "incomplete," it would probably be a good idea to start giving certain sections their own articles. Hotel Richissime should probably be first, as it's currently the most well-developed section. I'm also planning, when I get the time, to transcribe all of the Lumiose Museum audio guides and use them in making a page for that building as well. Any objections or suggestions for further splitting? —Minimiscience (talk) 00:36, 27 December 2013 (UTC)

The restaurants use a fair amount of templates, which makes them a pretty good candidate to split off if we're trying to do it for size purposes. I agree that Hotel Richissime can be split off; the Lumiose Museum stuff sounds like it'd be more quote-heavy than content-heavy, so it might be suited more as a subpage of this article than its own article, though that's probably something for a staff member to decide. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 00:41, 27 December 2013 (UTC)
Lumiose Museum would have a lot of quotes, though (there are 20-30 paintings in it), and some of the paintings appear to be art from previous games that's already on the Archives, so I'd imagine we'd want to include those in the Museum's section/article, making it longer and more article-worthy. —Minimiscience (talk) 00:51, 27 December 2013 (UTC)
Yeah, I'd say this article could certainly use splitting up. The Hotel Richissime and Lumiose Museum getting their own pages would work. Restaurants maybe. --SnorlaxMonster 03:31, 27 December 2013 (UTC)

Hotel Richissime is now a separate article. —Minimiscience (talk) 04:19, 27 December 2013 (UTC)

Lumiose Museum is now an article. The formatting could probably use some work. —Minimiscience (talk) 09:31, 28 December 2013 (UTC)

Pokemon Centers

Should it be noted that Lumiose City is the first and only city in the entire Pokemon World to have more than one Pokemon Center within the city? I'm a bit surprised nobody has brought this up. - unsigned comment from Noah★ (talkcontribs) 17:38, 27 December 2013 (UTC)

That's because it's not. Ever Grande City was the first. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 17:43, 27 December 2013 (UTC)

Rare Soda and Ultra Rare Soda Evoltuion

Ok, so I bought an Ultra Rare Soda (50,000 pokedollars), gave it to my lv 34 Servine which increased its level to lv 39, and she did not evolve. Is this possibly only Ultra Rare Soda, or does also raise level but does not invoke evolution?Yamitora1 (talk) 06:50, 4 January 2014 (UTC)

Restaurants

Has anyone really figured out how the restaurants are scored aside from number of turns and Pokémon fainted? For some reason, I actually got 24 Balm Mushrooms in Le Wow when I completed the entire Double Battle course in 10 turns and no faints, but actually got a smaller reward (around 19-21) when I completed the entire thing in one turn per battle. From what I've seen, at least, you seem to get a better reward for getting closer to the designated turn count over taken the least possible amount of turns. This really doesn't seem right and I'm starting to think that there is more to the scoring. Schiffy (瀬藤健二) (Talk Contribs) 22:01,1/13/2014 (UTC)

I don't see what you're having an issue with... You're not supposed to go for the least possible amount of turns, since the point is to hit the target number of turns exactly. Going over or under will detract from the reward, and I think the article's pretty clear about that. Unless I've misunderstood your question? Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 03:52, 14 January 2014 (UTC)
"For each faint or turn difference, the player will receive one less of the reward item." - Ignore me, I'm stupid and I can't read. Schiffy (瀬藤健二) (Talk Contribs) 05:16,1/14/2014 (UTC)

Discount Coupon

So, from what I gathered from the PGL and my game, the Discount Coupon seems to have the following properties:

  1. They cost zero Poké Miles
  2. They can be used one time at any Boutique (seemingly on one item, but that also might be one full transaction); and give you 50% off
  3. They can be sold to a Poké Mart for $10
  4. They can only be obtained once
  5. They go in the main Items slot
  6. They have the following description: "This special coupon allows you to buy items at a discount when you are shopping at a boutique."

I can't seem to find a page of (non key) items introduced in Gen VI if there is one, so I'm leaving the information here in hopes of finding said page. Schiffy (瀬藤健二) (Talk Contribs) 19:52,1/15/2014 (UTC)

Wouldn't it fit best in exchangeable items? It's only function is to be exchanged after all. And I recall the Bulbanews article saying you could buy multiple items. Glik (talk) 21:10, 15 January 2014 (UTC)
Well, to start off, I set it up here, since there's still a few things missing, for sure. Schiffy (瀬藤健二) (Talk Contribs) 23:01,1/15/2014 (UTC)

Soft Resetting Changes the Menu in the Juice Shoppe

So, I discovered soft resetting changes the Juice Shoppe Menu to some degree under certain circumstances.

I was leveling up two 5IV Charmander (one Impish, one Careful) to see which had the best Attack of the two (Only HP, Def, Sp.Atk, Sp. Def and Speed are 31IV)

Well I used rare candies while in Kiloude City to get them the first one (Impish) to level 21, then I flew to Lumiose City to see if the Juice Shoppe was selling Rare or Ultra Rare Soda. I know its a gamble, but it paid of, they were selling Rare Soda for 20k. So that got it to level 23.

I soft reset, repeated the rare candies and then flew from Kiloude to Lumiose and when I got to the Juice Shoppe, the Rare Soda was now 50k Ultra Rare Soda, which was surprising. So I was able to get the Careful Charmander to level 26 instead of lv 23 like I had the Impish one.

I have saved and then soft reset before inside the shoppe and the menu stayed the same. This time however I had saved in Kiloude and flew back to the Juice Shoppe. If I were to guess, I would assume that the menu changes based on similar math that a roaming Pokémon's route changes. This needs further investigation, but if proven to some degree, would soft resetting to change the menu be worth noting in the article/Juice Shoppe section? Yamitora1 (talk) 15:57, 14 February 2014 (UTC)

Well, I screwed up in my attempt to investigate this further, but it wasn't a total lost.
So after I soft reset and flew back to the Juice Shoppe, the menu changed again, this time to the 20k rare soda and a 40k Ultra rare soda and a pink 2100 juice. I saved after seeing these items, now the menu is stuck as that..so it seems as long as you save before you find out the menu, it is not locked in and can be changed with further soft resets. Yamitora1 (talk) 16:04, 14 February 2014 (UTC)

Restaurant Stars

It mentions in the article that if you complete the selected option for battling (Double, Triple, Rotation, ect) and get a perfect score, then a star appears next to that option. However do these stars actually do anything? Like if I completed all of them perfectly, would I get a discount or something important like that? Darkcloud1111~Fastest Hero Alive 20:44, 14 February 2014 (UTC)

I think its mostly a Aesthetic badge of honor showing that you've achieved the goal for that battle option. I've noticed no change outside of that in terms of price or prize money.Yamitora1 (talk) 21:43, 14 February 2014 (UTC)
I have just got perfect scores/stars in every battle type in all 4 restaurants and it doesn't seem to do anything other that allow you to tip that restaurant $10,000 and have the person that serves you at the counter have different dialog (treating you like a regular customer). I though it might add a star/change the color of my Trainer Card, but I guess not! --evacino (talk) 15:49, 17 February 2014 (GMT)

Do Cookies Go With Milk?

I've been buying Lumiose Galettes for a LONG time, and I've never received a Moomoo Milk. NerfPlayeR135 (talk) 00:25, 18 February 2014 (UTC)

I think you only get the Moomoo Milk if you buy a Galette within an hour of a sale starting (i.e., from 3 to 4 or from 9 to 10), and even then I think you only get one per day. —Minimiscience (talk) 16:08, 18 February 2014 (UTC)

Help Needed Roseli Berry used in Ultra Rare Soda it seems, whats the other berry?

So, I saw a image of a snapshot taken of the Roseli berry's official guide entry, and it states the berry newcomer is one of the ingredients needed to make Ultra Rare Soda.

It took me a 1 hour and 10 minutes but I tested each combination of Roseli berry with the berries I have, and none worked.

The only berries I have yet to test are... Starf Berry (which is needed to make normal Rare Soda) Enigma Berry Micle Berry Custap Berry Jaboca Berry Rowap Berry

Those six berries I do not possess, so testing them on my side is impossible. so could someone test the other berries if possible? Yamitora1 (talk) 06:21, 20 February 2014 (UTC)

Should we switch the current trainer template in those restaurants to the template which features Pokémon moves? (I don't know what's that called) It is better to know their moves, so we could somehow prepare in advance to earn the stars. --Yukyankee (talk) 16:03, 21 February 2014 (UTC)
