Skuntank (Japanese: スカタンク Skutank) is a dual-type Poison/Dark Pokémon first seen in the Generation IV games.

Biology

Physiology

Skuntank are medium sized mammalian Pokémon that are a dark purple with a white stripe running down their backs. Their cheeks are now not as large. However, their tails are much longer and are often laid out on their backs and over their face.

Gender differences

None.

Special abilities

Skuntank are known for their noxious fluid which not only smells terrible, but is possibly flammable and explosive. It can spray this fluid over 160 feet. Unlike its pre-evolution and real like Skunks, Skuntank spray this from their tail tip instead of the base.

Behavior

It is likely that like Stunky, it uses its foul smelling spray to defend itself.

Trivia

  • It is commonly said that Skuntank's cry sounds like flatulence.
  • Skuntank weighs 83.8 lbs, which is the same as the male player in Diamond and Pearl.
  • So far, Skuntank is the only non-Fire type Pokémon to learn Flamethrower naturally.
  • Before it was made known that Skuntank sprayed from its tail tip, many fans thought the spray came from its rear end like Stunky and real life Skunks and thus comically believed so did its Flamethrower.

Origin

Skuntank is based on a skunk.

Name origin

Skuntank's name appears to be a combination of tank, skunk, and stank, the past tense of stink. Skutank is the same, just with one less letter. Its French name, Moufflair, comes from moufette and flair.
