Template:Infobox town Pewter City (Japanese: ニビシティ Nibi City) is a city located in northwest Kanto. The locale lies between Viridian Forest (via Route 2) and Mt. Moon (via Route 3). The most notable resident of the city is Brock, the Pewter City Gym Leader.

A famous museum is located in the northwestern part of town. The main building is open to the public for $50 and features several historical artifacts, including Aerodactyl and Kabutops fossils, and a model of a space shuttle. (The space shuttle was originally the Space Shuttle Columbia in the Generation I games, but after its explosion in 2003, it simply was called a space shuttle.) The second, smaller building is not accessible by the public, but if the player Cuts through and talks to the scientists there, Old Amber can be obtained and used to resurrect an Aerodactyl on Cinnabar Island.
The museum is closed for renovations during Generation II.

Trainer Tips
FireRed and LeafGreen
- All Pokémon that appear in battle, however briefly, earn Exp Points.
In the anime
Episodes in Pewter City commonly focus on the Pewter Gym. While its legacy is of a strong Gym "as rough and tough as the stones themselves" was kept under Brock, his mother has recently added a brighter color scheme. The Gym Leader's family lives in a house by the side of the Gym, in which Brock's nine siblings and parents currently reside.
Around the outskirts of the city, there is a Contest Hall and one of the locations of the Battle Pyramid.
In the Pokémon Special manga
Pewter City is first visited in Wanted: Pikachu! and Onix is On! in the Red, Green & Blue chapter. The citizens are business people that have tents in the streets where they sell principally fruits and vegetables, they also enjoy to watch the battles of the trainers who challenges the Pewter Gym. The city has a Pokémon Center but in this round it is closed because of damages.
Trivia
- Although in a non-existent region/continent and/or universe, the Pewter Museum houses a model Columbia Space Shuttle. This references a object that is from another region/continent (United States of North America) and/or universe, which has of yet to be seen explicitly being apart of the Pokémon world. Although in the English Dub of Mewtwo Strikes Back Ash mentions Minnesota and Vikings. Other examples of this would be Hollywood and Paris being mentioned or fantasized about. Also multiple references exist of Mew, South America and its forests and mountains. All of which are more explicitly shown as part of the Pokémon world through journals, Mew's Pokédex entry, and various other medias in and out of the games.
- Goldenrod City and Rustboro City would become very similar to Pewter City. Their geographic locations to their regions are very remarkably similar, as well as being only accessible through a forest during the beginning of the game. Rustboro is however the most like Pewter in that both cities are the second city visited with a gym, but first to be beat by the player. Both Pewter and Rustboro's Gyms specialize in Template:Type2 Pokémon, and play a role in the player obtaining fossil Pokémon. The Gym Leaders of the two cities are also named for puns on the word Rock.
Name origin
Pewter is a metal alloy of copper, tin, and, traditionally, lead that has a gray color. Nibi iro (鈍色) refers to a dull gray color.
