Froakie (Japanese: ケロマツ Keromatsu) is a Water-type Pokémon.
Along with Chespin and Fennekin, Froakie is one of three starter Pokémon in Pokémon X and Y. It is unknown if it has a secondary type.
It, along with the other two starters in X and Y, were the first Generation VI Pokémon to be revealed to the public on January 8, 2013, as part of a Pokémon Direct broadcast.

Froakie may be a combination of frog and croak.
Keromatsu is a combination ケロケロ kerokero (onomatopoeia for a frog's croaking) and 沫 matsu (bubble or foam) or 飛沫 himatsu (spray or splash).
