Move's Accuracy

I forget where, but I was informed (maybe wrongly) that if this move is use against an electric-type, it's accuracy is reduced by 3%. Does anyone know if this is true? I highly doubt it, but if it's a possibility... - unsigned comment from Dark Boye (talk • contribs)

joktik?

Are we sure that the Joltik used Thunderwave and not thunderbolt? It looked like thunderbolt to me? Emeraldben 11:52, 18 August 2011 (UTC)

Sanshirō's Joltik used Thunderbolt and it looked different. And IMO wild Joltik's move didn't look like Thunderbolt at all.--電禅Den Zen 11:57, 18 August 2011 (UTC)

Maybe I'm just weird, but I've always sort of thought Pokémon could just use their abilities (as in controlling electricity or breathing fire; not the actual Abilities) however they wanted without actually generating a move. Like when a Pokémon eats, it isn't using Bite on the food. Or if two Pokémon fall in love, it wasn't because of Attract. I don't see why Joltik had to use anything. It stores electricity, it let some of it out to warn Oshawott. Besides, doesn't Thunder Wave paralyze but not do any damage? Well, obvious things like Bite, Dig, etc. probably wouldn't be the move. However, I personally think it could be an attack. You said that it was warning Oshawott, but it was still hurting it? Plus, games=/=anime, right? Thunder Wave has been used as an attack move before (Thunder Wave included, like Chinchou, Magnemite, Dragonite, Nosepass (kinda), Manectric, and Plusle). Another arguement I have is it formed a cage around Oshawott's body, preventing it from barely moving its arms around too much without getting shocked. Many Pokemon have done this using Thunder Wave in the anime (Clair's Dragonair, the two Magneton and Magnemite that were holding Ash's Torkoal hostage?). Also, you mention not to assume moves, but then again, no one said that Simisear was using Flamethrower, or that the Galvantula was using Discharge in BW024? Finally, as said above, it cannot be Thunderbolt, since it looks much different, as does Electro Ball and Electroweb (I actually considered this an option because it formed a net around Oshawott, but it looks completely different), and Discharge is a damaging move that damages everyone on the field, and it only (kinda) damaged Oshawott. I have one last arguement as well. ^-^' Since it was just Ash with them when Joltik appeared, he probably wouldn't have said the move anyways, because the show shows him to be unknown to all the Unova Pokemon. Actually, the move that Galvantula used in BW024 was said to be Discharge. As for Simisear's Flamethrower, that is obviously what it is. All Flamethrowers look like that without variation.

As I said before, the Galvantula attacked Ash's Scraggy with its stingy hairs. It ended up causing a lot of conflict on Bulbapedia over what move was when it was not a move at all. I don't want the same happening here. But who knows. Perhaps it is a move. You say it's impossible to be Thunderbolt or Discharge because of its size and power. But Joltik is a little Pokémon. And as Pikachu showed countless times, Thunderbolt's power can be decreased at will.

Ah, was it? I wasn't sure if it was or not. ^-^' I do see what you mean, however, but I narrowed down the possibilities. Thunderbolt was actually used in the Don George Tournament by a Joltik, and Joltik physically shocked Langley's Beartic instead of the electricity going around it. Usually with evolutions, moves tend to stay around the same method (Chimchar - Monferno - Infernape Mach Punch, but no other example are coming to me atm). And while you're right that even though Joltik's little, the electricity curved itself around Oshawott. I suggest that we put it up, and if it is later confirmed to be a different move, we get rid of it, as simple as that. I just don't understand why when a move isn't said aloud, it isn't the move unless it's obvious like Flamethrower. *shrugs* I'm not bragging at all when I say this, but I've put up some reasonable reasons to why it could be Thunder Wave and minused other possibilities, since Joltik doesn't learn any other Electric-type moves. When I put a move entry in the anime section, I do some extensive research before I deduce what the move is, comparing it to the other moves that it can learn.
