Treecko (Japanese: キモリ Kimori, German: Geckarbor, French: Arcko, Korean: ???) is a Grass-type Pokémon. Along with Torchic and Mudkip, it is one of three starter Pokémon you can choose from at the beginning of Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, and Pokémon Emerald.

Treecko comes with the Ability Overgrow, which increases the power of Grass-type attacks by 50% once the Pokémon has less than one-third of its maximum HP.

Treecko evolves into Grovyle starting at Level 16, then into Sceptile starting at Level 36.

Pokédex entries

Pokémon Ruby
Treecko has small hooks on the bottom of its feet that enable it to scale vertical walls. This Pokémon attacks by slamming foes with its thick tail.
Pokémon Ruby
Treecko is cool, calm, and collected - it never panics under any situation. If a bigger foe were to glare at this Pokémon, it would glare right back without conceding an inch of ground.
Pokémon Emerald
It makes its nest in a giant tree in the forest. It ferociously guards against anything nearing its territory. It is said to be the protector of the forest's trees.

Name origin

Treecko's name seems to be made up of the words tree and gecko. Kimori may be a combination of 木 ki, tree, and 森 mori, forest.

Its design shares some similarities with the leaf-tailed gecko, a species of lizard that blends in with plant-like appendages.
