Walkthrough:Pokémon Legends: Arceus/Part 10

Jubilife Village

On your return to Jubilife Village, enter Galaxy Hall and head up the stairs to visit Commander Kamado in his office. The Commander is satisfied that the last of the nobles has been quelled, and when tomorrow comes the world shall have returned to normal again. In the meantime, we can head to the Wallflower for some well-earned potato mochi.

You’ve completed the mission The Slumbering Lord of the Tundra!

At the Wallflower that evening, Professor Laventon once again shares the reservations he held about whether we should have quelled lord Avalugg, given that it had not yet harmed anyone, but it did bring calm to people and help ease its suffering. Rei/Akari muse over what havoc may have been caused by the nobles if we hadn’t magically appeared to help quell them, but even with that the space-time rift still hasn’t closed, although if that were to happen, then we may be stuck in Hisui forever. Laventon assures us that whatever happens, we’ll always have a home and be welcome here in Jubilife Village, before it’s time to retire to our quarters for the night.

During the night we’re awoken by an almighty explosion, beginning our next mission, the ominously named Disaster Looming. Make your way outside to investigate what’s going on, and you’ll find members of the Galaxy Team looking heavenwards, with the sky having turned into all sorts of different colors and the space-time rift appearing to have expanded, rather than disappeared as we might have hoped.

Inside Galaxy Hall, Laventon explains that some sort of energy appears to be flowing from the rift, which is what has caused the color of the sky to change. Cyllene enters the room and informs us we are to report to Commander Kamado’s office immediately.

Kamado is in his office, alongside Adaman and Irida, when you and Cyllene arrive. The two Clan leaders want to know precisely why the Commander summoned them, as Kamado reveals that it’s not about the noble Pokémon. Kamado mentions that the night Kleavor was struck by lightning from the rift was also the night that we fell from the sky into Hisui, leading him to believe that the two events must be linked in some way.

Kamado’s tone suddenly becomes a lot more accusatory, as he turns to us to ask who, or what, are we really? Kamado agrees that we have done all he has asked of us, but that this does not answer the question of who we really are. Kamado’s conclusion is that we came from the rift, just like the lightning, that we are connected to the frenzies, and our plan is to gain people’s trust by quelling the frenzies that we caused in the first place.

Adaman and Irida are in agreement that nothing we’ve done would suggest that, and that it is highly unlikely a child would have the power necessary to make all of this happen. While their position is that we should be presumed innocent until proven otherwise, Kamado is of the view that it cannot be proven beyond doubt that we are not guilty. As we fell from the sky, who could possibly guarantee that we are who we claim, and that we can be trusted?

Irida astutely points out that it’s impossible to prove a negative, that you cannot prove the absence of doubt, and Adaman asks what more we would have to do to earn that sort of trust. Kamado suggests that we investigate the latest goings on, although this will have to be done without the help of the Galaxy Team, as we are still a suspect until we can clear our name. There are some in Jubilife Village, he continues, that cannot trust a stranger who fell from the sky, and thus we must leave the village and are no longer welcome in the Galaxy Team. We are, as of this point, officially banished from the village until we can explain why these calamities keep happening, and the world is restored to its natural state, with our innocence proved beyond all doubts.

Irida is outraged by Kamado’s actions, but he overrules her as Commander of the Galaxy Team, adding further that it is only because of our good work so far and our outstanding abilities that he is allowing us to walk out, rather than imprisoning us.

Outside Galaxy Hall, Rei/Akari and Professor Laventon are shocked to hear that we have been expelled from Jubilife Village, as Cyllene follows the Commander’s orders and leads us slowly to the front gate, where the Security Corps can take over. Cyllene notes that it was her decision to admit us into the Galaxy Team in the first place, and thus it is only right that she escorts us away to the Fieldlands Camp. Rei/Akari and Laventon offer to join her, which Cyllene allows, as we leave Jubilife Village for the Obsidian Fieldlands.

Banishment

By the time we make it to the Obsidian Fieldlands, Professor Laventon and Rei/Akari are still outraged at Commander Kamado’s decision, but Cyllene notes that it will only cause us more pain if they are also driven out of the village for defending us. Cyllene tells us that we will not be totally alone, as we have been helpful to both the Diamond Clan and the Pearl Clan, and they might provide refuge for us. Although both Adaman and Irida have returned to their respective settlements in the Crimson Mirelands and Alabaster Icelands, the wardens in the Obsidian Fieldlands might still be around if we wish to find them.

Cyllene orders us that we are not to die, and that she will ensure we have everything we need to complete the survey that Kamado asked, before offering some advice - we will meet with both admiration and abuse in life, and that you cannot choose how others wish to view you, so all that matters is whether you hold firm to your own personal values. With that, Cyllene departs, leaving us to fend for ourselves.

Our first task is to find Lian of the Pearl Clan, lord Kleavor’s warden, at Grandtree Arena. Make changes to your team and inventory at base camp as required before heading over (you still have the ability to fast travel there using the map, if you wish). When you arrive Lian is not best pleased to see us, telling us the entire Pearl Clan is in a panic because of the expansion of the space-time rift. Lian tells us that unfortunately they are not in a position to help, as it would put Irida in an awkward position, but Mai of the Diamond Clan might be able to, and that she can be found at the Worn Bridge.

As Lian suspected, Mai and her Munchlax are indeed at the Worn Bridge. Mai asks if we know why the sky has changed colors, but is not surprised that we don’t have the answers either. She has heard from Adaman that we have been banished from Jubilife Village, but unfortunately she is not in a position to help either, as she cannot risk the Diamond Clan ending up in conflict with the Galaxy Team if things do not go to plan. Mai has confidence that we’ll find a path forward, but it will not be with her.

This leaves us at a loss, with the Galaxy Team, Pearl Clan, and Diamond Clan all rejecting us, leaving us all alone on the Worn Bridge. A Shinx appears behind us, before retreating to two Luxio, exacerbating our isolation.

It is at this point that Volo of the Ginkgo Guild arrives, and it appears they have been looking for us, as one of their most valued customers. They heard of our banishment from the village, and they know a spot that will provide the perfect hideaway for us, and the two of you leave the area.

Ancient Retreat

We arrive with Volo at a new, previously unvisited, location, a clearing with a tent and a campfire outside. Next to the campfire, a person is sitting at a table with a tea set, and Volo approaches her. They seem none too pleased with Volo bothering her, which does not appear to be an uncommon occurrence. Volo addresses her as Mistress Cogita, and normally he speaks to her to learn about the myths and legends of the region. Volo introduces us as the person who quelled all the frenzied Noble Pokémon, although evidently he has previously told Cogita about the nature of our arrival in Hisui.

Cogita says that because of us she’ll finally be able to fulfill her duty, which raises more questions than it answers. She tells us that she is to guide us, as we have the task of preventing great disaster. The space-time rift must be healed, she says, but rather than have you stand outside, everyone retires inside for further details.

In the tent, Cogita explains that the space-time rift is a portal to other dimensions, and in one of those dwells almighty Sinnoh. You have the choice of which version of Sinnoh you can ask about - the Diamond or Pearl Clan’s - but the choice is moot, as Cogita explains that both together comprise the universe, and that one does not exist without the other.

Cogita now explains our next task - at each of Hisui’s great lakes, Lake Verity, Lake Valor, and Lake Acuity, lives a Pokémon that embodies one aspect of the mind. We must find them, complete the trials each will set for us, and then bring the gifts they give to the Shrouded Ruins. Doing so will grant us the Red Chain, an artifact that will bind the world together.

Volo has further questions, but Cogita responds that this is just the story that has been passed down to her, and she does not know the veracity of them, but must pass them on regardless. Cogita asks us if we will carry out our duty - regardless of your response, the Arc Phone beeps, and marks the location of the three lakes for you to find.

Volo mentions that you can use Cogita’s workbench for any crafting you may need to do, and he can provide materials as well, but as for the pastures, or where can we rest, those questions are unanswered when the sound of an Abra comes from outside the tent. The Abra has a letter for us attached, and it turns out to be from Cyllene. The letter says that we can use Abra to access the pastures, and Cyllene has ensured that we are safe to use any of the base camps that have been set up, while repeating that she has faith in our ability to succeed.

Before we can set out for the lakes, Irida and Adaman arrive together. They understand that they cannot publicly aid us, as it would risk their relationships with the Galaxy Team and Commander Kamado in particular, and we are welcome to have their help, but we must make a choice - we can pick Adaman or Irida, but not both. Picking Adaman aligns you with the Diamond Clan and their vision of almighty Sinnoh as a being of time, while choosing Irida allies you to the Pearl Clan, and almighty Sinnoh as the ruler of space.

Whichever option you pick, it will still be possible to complete the Pokédex, but the path to get there will be different. If you pick Adaman, you will encounter Dialga first, before a final clash with Origin Forme Palkia, while picking Irida gives you the reverse result, where you will face Palkia before taking on Origin Forme Dialga later.

Depending on which leader you choose, the other will stay back and monitor Commander Kamado, while your chosen companion will accompany you and Volo to the three lakes. Obviously they cannot be seen to be traveling with you, so they will meet you at whichever lake you decide to visit first. The two leaders part ways, and you are given three new missions - The Trial of Lake Verity, The Trial of Lake Valor, and The Trial of Lake Acuity, which you are free to tackle in whichever order you see fit. This also means we have now completed mission 13, Disaster Looming.

Use your time at the Ancient Retreat to make any changes you see fit to your party and inventory, and when you’re ready talk to your chosen leader standing by the retreat’s entrance to tell them which lake you intend to visit first, so we can begin the next stage of our adventure.
