Butters are a type of key item introduced in Pokémon Legends: Z-A's Mega Dimension DLC. They are used in conjunction with Berries by Ansha for making donuts.

In the core series games
Butters are used as ingredients for making donuts, which can be fed to Ansha's Hoopa in order to open up distortions leading to Hyperspace Lumiose. Initially, the player obtains Lumiosian Butter within Lumiose City. All other types of butter are found in golden Bonus Balls after defeating Rogue Mega Evolved Pokémon within Hyperspace Rogue Mega Arenas.
Donuts can be made using butter by talking to Ansha at Ansha's Donuts in Hotel Z and selecting "I'd like to make a donut". All donuts require a minimum of three Berries used to make them. The maximum number of berries possible to use in a single donut is determined by what kind of butter the player has, with the amount steadily increasing as superior types of butter are obtained.
