Heracross debuted in Steeling Peace of Mind!, where he was seen training on Iron Island alongside his Trainer and Empoleon, but the training got interrupted when Empoleon started attacking them as it was controlled by the sound waves coming from within the island. Later, Heracross and Barry fled from an angry group of Magnemite and once his Trainer jumped off a cliff to escape, Heracross grabbed him and flew him to safety. After a while, Heracross and Barry spotted some odd machinery in the distance but were promptly knocked out of the sky by a rampaging Skarmory and ended up landing atop of Team Rocket. Heracross attacked then Team Rocket with Fury Attack as they were accused to be the ones behind all of this. However, after pointing out the machines located on the island, it turned out that another villainous team was the cause. After being spotted, the Galactic's Golbat attacked them with Air Cutter and severely damaged Heracross, which prompted Barry to recall him back to its Poké Ball.

Heracross reappeared in Historical Mystery Tour! battling Ash's Pikachu. Heracross was able to withstand Pikachu's attacks and became stronger from the last time. The battle got interrupted when a Xatu flew by. Xatu lead the group to a tent owned by a Clown and they got sent to another world. When they woke up, they got separated and searched for their Pokémon. While Barry was looking for his Heracross, he found a tree and had a flashback about first meeting with Heracross. With this in mind, Barry decided to repeat the tactic of slathering honey on a tree in hopes of finding Heracross, which proved successful as the Single Horn Pokémon was attracted to the scent and reunited with his Trainer.
Personality and characteristics
Heracross is a very loyal Pokémon, doing his utmost to protect Barry from the rampaging Steel-type Pokémon at Iron Island in Steeling Peace of Mind!. He also seems to have picked up some of his Trainer's characteristics, joining Barry in accusingly pointing at Jessie, James and Meowth while blaming them for the Steel-type Pokémon's rampage.
Like many of his species, Heracross is attracted by sweet scents of food, such as tree sap and honey. The latter of being responsible for Heracross being caught in the first place, and later managing to reunite him with Barry after they got separated.
