Zirc's Rhydon
I feel that Rhydon may be worthy of having its own article, a page is currently being worked on, whilst it has mostly only been used in battle, it has had a few notable episodes where it didn't battle and showed some strong personality, HZ104 being a good example BigDocFan, Junior Admin Bulbapedia (talk) 11:34, 18 July 2025 (UTC)
- I agree Hikaru Wazana (talk) 00:21, 19 July 2025 (UTC)
- Is it's personality supposed to be that it obeys and likes its Trainer? That just sounds like Friendship. I'm not exactly seeing what makes that particularly special, to be honest. I'm not seeing anything stand-out currently written in its section here. MaverickNate 09:20, 19 July 2025 (UTC)
- Yeah, I agree as well. Rhydon is worthy of its own article. GougingFire (talk) 11:56, 29 July 2025 (UTC)
- I disagree. It really hasn't done anything plot important besides battle. Landfish7 13:59, 29 July 2025 (UTC)
- I don't think Murdock's Lycanroc did anything plot important either except for finding Liko's Sprigatito, yet it has its own article page. GougingFire (talk) 20:13, 30 July 2025 (UTC)
- Lycanroc helping find things gives it a clear plot purpose which satisfies the notability requirements for the signature Pokémon of recurring characters, as outlined by rule 3. Landfish7 23:02, 30 July 2025 (UTC)
- Personally, at this point, I think we should have pages dedicated to at least one of each Explorer's Pokémon (and some of the Rising Volt Tacklers). Many of these Pokémon have already met their notability quotas a long time ago. Hikaru Wazana (talk) 23:54, 2 August 2025 (UTC)
- I think we should be intentional about it though. Would we be splitting them because it feels right, or because it's the best way to organize the content? To me, having people click through to another page only to find.. not much, doesn't seem like a good reader experience. Landfish7 01:19, 3 August 2025 (UTC)

- Strictly looking at what's currently on the page in Rhydon's section, have to say I'm inclined to agree with Nate and Landfish on this one. From an outside perspective, it seems like a very clear case of not meeting notability requirements for a recurring character's Pokémon. 6 out of 8 points in its section are about it battling, 1 is just about how it likes its trainer, and then the remaining 1 is, to be blunt, fluff (that is still worth noting, but not notable per se. Certainly not the tipping point for a standalone article). If it's felt there is more significant info that isn't there, it should either be added to the current page or demonstrated in a draft that there's enough material for a standalone page to feel worth it. - I agree. Ignore all the naysayers and create a page with lots of beautiful images. Just do it. Dragodifuoco200 (talk) 08:37, 9 January 2026 (UTC)
- "Ignore all naysayers" is not how we operate. We have rules, standards, and policies that define our coverage, and even within what those frameworks allow, consensus is often still very important. If you believe your course of action is the right one, it should be able to be backed up by logic & reason, surely? Driftin Soul (talk) 21:14, 9 January 2026 (UTC)
- Yes, of course. I'm just saying, if you're thinking about doing something, why worry? It's fine to consult, but if you think about something too much, you won't do it because you'll have doubts. Sometimes the best things are the ones you think of and do right away. Dragodifuoco200 (talk) 08:22, 12 January 2026 (UTC)

Whoa, that's a big'un!
Regardless of whether it's notable for a full page (I'll let others decide that), the matter I'm bringing up is that this Rhydon's section is basically Paul's Weavile reborn, an oversized and unwieldy titan of a section. I'm pretty sure these summaries for non-page Pokémon were supposed to be more concise things instead of being outright full-blown pages-within-pages? The Rhydon section on this page needs trimming down, even if it's decided that a full page shouldn't be approved. What we have now is getting packed down with stuff that I don't think belongs in a simple summary. Gengarzilla! 21:21, 5 September 2025 (UTC)
