Talk:Soda Pop

Well, I would still like to put this SOMEWHERE.

Even though it's the TRUTH, someone keeps reverting the following:

<quote>The player will find them to be far more cost-effective than the Super Potion in restoring their Pokémons' hit-points at PD300 each (or 5 PD per 1 HP,) whereas Super Potions, at PD700, will only restore 50 HP (or 14 PD per 1 HP.)</quote>

There's got to be someplace to put that. --Elohssa Naer'uoy 04:52, 9 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Oh, right, you wanted a real reply.... This is not a game guide. We don't give hints for movesets, tiers, clues on gym puzzles or anything. It doesn't go anywhere on our site. Keep your secret strategies to yourself, backwardsnameduser. — THE TROM04:59, 9 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Psycho?

Are we sure it's "psycho" and not サイコー (saiko/the best)? Me, Hurray! (talk) 06:15, 27 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

The Gen I art shows that it's Psycho Soda.--ForceFire 07:43, 27 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Japanese translation/romanization (again)

This topic has been broached (and edited back and forth) in the past as to whether the name should be formatted as "Psycho Soda" or "Saiko/Best Soda". Previously the reasoning given was that the generation I artwork showed it to be officially romanized as "Psycho Soda", which was a very sensible conclusion... at the time.

Since then we have had (at least) two newer instances of it being romanized as "Saiko Soda"—as part of the thusly-named merchandise line (later localized in English territories as the "Soda Pop" line), as well as appearing in an episode of Pack Your Pocket With Adventure. The fact that this name has not only been updated compared to the nearly thirty-year-old generation I artwork, but also the fact that this new romanization is consistent across at least two different mediums leads me to believe that the older romanization is now outdated and we should switch to the new one. The old romanization could of course still be mentioned in trivia, as we have done in other cases of official romanization changes. Driftin Soul (talk) 19:17, 8 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

A good compromise would be to list the name as "Saiko Soda lit. Psycho Soda". Landfish7 15:03, 9 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
I agree with Driftin Soul. (One example of how we could handle a changed official romanization would be at Umbreon.)
(If anything, I think "Saiko Soda" would be a more literal romanization than Psycho Soda, so that suggestion just sounds super weird to me.) Nescientist (talk) 11:37, 10 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
Fair. I'm mostly just mirroring what we do for the villainous teams, like Team Rocket. Landfish7 13:39, 10 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
