Alt forms in Home Dex

I've just finished testing how alt forms get registered in the dex. don't have time to type it properly but I'll put my conclusions here. It's a bit complicated, and I wasn't able to test everything:

Gigantamax only register if you have a gigatamax capable pokemon of that form deposited in Home

Form differences sync to Home's dex IF you have a pokemon of any form deposited in Home and you have the form difference you want to register registered in a gen 7 game (not Gen 6) for example:

Vililion Garden deposited in Home

Vivilion Fancy registered in Gen 7 game

Vivilion Fancy registered in Home dex

For some reason this does not work if the Vivillion Fancy pattern is only registered in a Gen 6 game, even if that means it's registered in the Bank dex. It also applies to Pokémon who have an Alola dex entry, like Furfrou. It didn't register Furfrou forms in Home until I registered it in UM, even though I had it in OR/Bank's Dex . You can also register forms by depositing them if applicable.

This doesn't apply to Gen 8 forms. For example, I have all 63 alcremie form in SH. I uploaded 1 form to Home to test and it didn't unlock all alcremie forms, but it did unlock the flavour I uploaded with all its sweets.

Regional Variants, same as forms it seems. You can upload Kanto Raichu and have Alola Raichu registered if in Bank dex. But you can't upload Unova Stunfisk and have Galar Stunfisk unlocked even if you have it in SWSH, the Galar Stunfisk has to be uploaded to Home.

Shinies are sync'd with Bank's dex as soon as you upload any mon of that species. It doesn't matter if the Bank dex pulled it from a Gen 6 or a Gen 7 game - which makes me think that the fact it's not pulling from Gen 6 for form differences is a glitch

I can't properly test megas as the first thing I did with Home is upload my base living dex from Home. Official media states you just upload a mon, but I don't know if it has to be from Gen6/7 to unlock, or if it has to sync with Bank. If it does have to sync'd with Bank then Gen 6 counts for this.

Losing Hyper Training

Is this true? I transferred a bunch of Pokémon from Bank to HOME, a few of which were Hyper Trained, and none of the Hyper Trained Pokémon lost their "trained" stats. AgentParadox (talk) 21:48, 12 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

in the first hours of release people were reporting this but it seems to be fixed now - unsigned comment from Jmvb (talkcontribs)

Trade Evolution

Pokémon that evolve by trading cannot evolve at all in HOME when the conditions are met. I've tested this out by putting three Shelmet in the GTS, and none of the Karrablast I obtained evolved into Escavalier. UxieLover1994 (talk) 12:00, 13 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Giant price increase

The annual price of Pokemon home is going up to $30 next year from what I heard. Mario60866 (talk) 15:16, 20 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Pokemon HOME Move Dex

So, Behemoth Blade, Behemoth Bash, Astral Barrage and Glacial Lance are all available on Smeargle as of the Indigo Disk Update for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, and as such can be transferred into HOME. Despite this the HOME Move Dex has not been updated with compatibility with those moves, nor has the mobile version of the game got the data for them.

As such, as of right now, these moves will appear as having no name or type, however having been mastered (as in unlocked Strong Style and Agile Style in LA).

I want to update the page as it currently states that these moves are unobtainable legitimately, however I wouldn't know where to start as I don't know what elements of this issue would belong under the Moves and Abilities section, and which would belong under the Bugs and Errors section.

Link to an image of my Smeargle with all four moves, obtained legitimately through Pokemon Violet, through the use of wild Ditto using the moves of transformed Pokemon. - unsigned comment from EvieTheEevee (talkcontribs)

Melmetal being Transfer only in Trivia point 7.2

The second bullet point under the 7th point of trivia for this article currently reads:

  • Spinda, Deoxys, Patrat, Watchog, Pansage, Simisage, Pansear, Simisear, Panpour, Simipour, Furfrou, Diancie, Hoopa, Magearna, Meltan, and Melmetal are the only Pokémon that cannot currently be obtained in Pokémon HOME without transferring them from Pokémon Bank or Pokémon GO.

I think that Melmetal shouldn't count here, because it is a Mystery Gift for a transfer of any Pokémon from GO to HOME. The wording for this trivia specifically says "transferring them" and an exact reading of such says it means the only method of getting one of these Pokemon is specifically getting a specimen in GO or Bank and sending it to HOME. In the case of Melmetal, I can transfer a Pikachu from GO, which is not a Melmetal, and get a Melmetal in HOME because the Mystery Gift will activate. (It's how I have my Melmetal, I don't think I have 300 Candies yet.) Therefore, I think this trivia has to be changed to some variation of "cannot currently be obtained in Pokémon HOME without performing a transfer from Pokémon Bank or Pokémon GO", which reads less elegantly unless you already know HOME has Mystery Gifts that trigger when certain actions are performed, is expanding a tightly knit definition just to include one extra entry, and can still be misinterpreted to mean that a Melmetal must be transferred). I'd rather just not have Melmetal on this list so that the trivia can keep its original wording.

I still think Magearna shouldn't count because the Mystery Gift is essentially HOME creating a Magearna in the same way a Gift Pokemon in a video game is, but acknowledge that Magearna has to be obtained through some other means first, which according to Bulbapedia, include sending from Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun, or Ultra Moon, completing a trade with someone who has done that transfer, or completing a trade with someone who has a HOME gift one... which means that they had to perform one of the prior methods. So it counts enough for me to not try to convince people of my opinion. But I do think Melmetal has to be removed or the trivia has to be more clumsily stated, and I'd really rather the former. restrictions on mythical pokemon with GO origins?

i'm not sure exactly what the rule is, but there's some kind of restriction on transferring mythical pokemon originally obtained in go to a save file that hasn't obtained that pokemon another way already. this isn't detailed at all on this page. i'm hesitant to add it without knowing much about the specifics, but it's not hard to prove that it exists at all lilycove 23:28, 9 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

It applies with legendary Pokemon from GO as well, but here's the rule. If you don't have that Pokemon in the save file's Pokedex, it will not let you put that Pokemon in your PC. For example, let's say you transferred shiny Mew from GO and you wanted to put it in your Scarlet save file. In order to do that, you need a Mew from another game (if not Mystery Gift) on that save file in order to transfer it to Scarlet. If you don't, Home will not let you transfer the shiny Mew. ¿¡Unowninator?! (talk) 01:09, 10 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
Apart from this not being documented anywhere, several species' availability sections cite HOME even though they cannot be legitimately deposited (e.g. Deoxys in BDSP). Eragon4 (talk) 02:22, 10 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
This is already documented on the GO Transporter page as applying only to the same HOME account that the Pokémon was transferred from GO to, but it should also be added to the Limitations section on this page. As for Deoxys in BDSP, a Deoxys transferred from Pokémon Bank to HOME or traded from someone else's HOME account should be able to be deposited from HOME into BDSP with no issues. --Abcboy (talk) 02:53, 10 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
The problem is that Deoxys is a special Pokémon and cannot be traded (another restriction not in this article). Eragon4 (talk) 03:13, 10 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
Where, on the GTS? ¿¡Unowninator?! (talk) 03:17, 10 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
Putting aside the fact that Deoxys is also available from events or via Bank transfer as Abcboy mentioned, any special Pokémon can be traded without restriction via Friend Trades, just not via the Wonder Box/GTS. Not sure about Room Trades. Driftin Soul (talk) 03:25, 10 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
deoxys was never available through events in BDSP, but i can confirm that this "pokemon laundering" technique works. trade a pokemon to a friend using HOME's friend trades, have them transfer it to their game, then do an in-game trade to get it back. lilycove 19:00, 10 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
"deoxys was never available through events in BDSP"
Which is why its page says it must come from Pokémon HOME, and not via an event, yes. I was referring to Deoxys made available via events in other games. Driftin Soul (talk) 20:47, 10 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
Anyway, the restriction on trading "special Pokémon" (which includes the Pokédex and Tera raid shiny legendaries, maybe because of ribbon?) should be documented here. Eragon4 (talk) 15:19, 13 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

HOME Points

The article does not describe any way of receiving HOME Points without having multiple boxes of Pokémon, which is obviously incomplete. Also, the mobile Pokédex image is outdated. Eragon4 (talk) 15:22, 13 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

mystery gift section is becoming untenable

the mystery gift section on this page links to four separate pages, all of which are only sorted by date and not what actual game they're for. questions that should be quick to answer - such as "what pokemon are awarded for completing various pokedexes?" - instead take poring over several pages to piece together the answer. i know it breaks the standard we've set in the past of separating mystery gifts by generation, but HOME is a single cross-generation application. it should have its own list of obtainable pokemon, either on a single mystery gift list page or on this one. lilycove 18:31, 9 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

while im open to looking at solutions, the problem is if we threw everything on one page; a game like home has real potential to break the page include limit. We might only be half way there right now but I struggle to think that we are only half way through home's lifespan. 4iamking 18:43, 9 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
would it be possible to, when the limit is approached, break the game into multiple sections by either context or year of release? ie, 2020-2030, 2030-2040, etc., or time-based event distributions vs permanently available pokemon. the first has the appeal of not running into the issue a second time, the second would be easier to navigate and find what you're looking for. lilycove 18:51, 9 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
